Chapter 1646
However, Elisa’s parents did not always treat her in a way that aligned with her desires.
Noticing her mother’s silence, Elisa had no choice but to exit the car.
As soon as she stepped out, Mrs. Stone instructed the chauffeur to continue driving.
Somewhat bewildered, the chauffeur turned to Mrs. Stone and said, “Madam, Ms. Stone…”
“She has legs, so she can make her own way home,” Mrs. Stone replied apathetically. “If she were still in the car, the two of us would undoubtedly have a fierce argument.”
By forcing her daughter out of the car, Mrs. Stone felt this would help both of them calm down.
She was indifferent to whether her daughter made it home safely.
Feeling exasperated, the chauffeur had no choice but to keep driving.
Elisa stood by the roadside, watching as her mother’s car disappeared into the traffic.
‘My mom really left me behind,’
she thought, torn between laughter and tears, feeling deeply hurt.
Deciding against returning to the hotel for her car, she hailed a cab and, once inside, instructed the driver to take her to Serenity’s house. She needed to share her feelings with Serenity.
Coincidentally, Andrew was at Zachary’s villa just before Elisa arrived.
Although Andrew and Zachary shared a close bond, they rarely appeared publicly together, as Andrew was concerned that others might perceive him as trying to capitalize on Zachary’s fame.
Zachary and Serenity had just finished their meal and were enjoying a leisurely stroll in their courtyard when Andrew arrived, prompting them to return to the house.
As Andrew was welcomed inside, the butler entered and informed Serenity, “Missus, Ms. Stone is here. She arrived by…
“Cab.” Serenity’s bright eyes sparkled with surprise. “Where’s Elisa’s car?” A thought suddenly struck her, prompting her to leap to her feet. As she walked out, she asked, “Could something have happened to her?” An accident was the first thing that crossed Serenity’s mind. It was only when Elisa had an accident that she would refrain from driving.
As soon as Andrew learned that Elisa was here, he felt restless. Initially, Zachary wanted to go outside to check, but he noticed the uneasy expression on his cousin’s face. He decided to hold off on going out for now and asked Andrew with concern, “Andrew, are you okay? Is my couch uncomfortable? You look like it’s bothering you.”
“No, I’m fine. Well… Zack, why did Elisa come over? I came here just to talk about her, and it seems she arrived right after me.”
It felt like coincidence and fate. Zachary replied, “What’s going on between you and Elisa? She’s Serenity’s cousin and a good friend, so she visits regularly.”
“There’s nothing between us. I’ve helped Mrs. Stone a few times, and she seems to… Zack, I don’t know if I’m overthinking, but I feel like Mrs. Stone has been overly enthusiastic and nice to me. The way she looks at me feels unsettling, like how a woman looks at her son-in-law.”
Zachary chuckled. “That’s great! In no time at all, Mrs. Stone has already considered you her son-in-law. Andrew, you’re really something.”
Andrew sighed, feeling helpless. “Zack, stop teasing me. I think Elisa has changed; she’s different now. I find her beautiful. But… I don’t want to be manipulated or led around.”
This implied that if he were interested in Elisa, he would pursue her on his own terms, without Mrs. Stone pulling the strings.
