Chapter 1643
After glancing at Elisa, Andrew smiled and said, “The soup Ms. Stone makes is sure to be delicious. However, I’m not really fond of drinking soup.”
Elisa had frequently sent soup to him when she was pursuing his cousin, and Andrew was aware of this.
Mrs. Stone maintained her smile and replied, “You haven’t tried Elisa’s soup yet. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it once you do. It’s settled then—please come to our house for a meal next time.”
Andrew grinned, “I’ll definitely come if I have the time.”
Only then did Mrs. Stone feel satisfied and cease her attempts.
She instructed Elisa to order the food.
Elisa had the waiter bring the menu and passed one to Andrew, saying, “You can take the lead, Mr. Reading.”
Andrew smiled back, “This is the Stone family’s hotel, so I’m sure you know which dishes are great. You should order, Ms. Stone. I’m not picky, except for my aversion to soup.”
In truth, he enjoyed soup. Wiltspoonians loved boiling it, and some could hardly eat without it at every meal.
Andrew claimed to dislike soup to discourage Mrs. Stone from having Elisa prepare it for him.
“I’ll just order a few dishes then,” Elisa said.
After selecting her family hotel’s signature dishes, Elisa also ordered soup.
During the meal, Mrs. Stone was overly enthusiastic towards Mr. Reading, constantly encouraging him to take more food. However, she never once mentioned Remy, who sat beside Andrew, creating a stark contrast.
Remy was good-natured and patient, fully aware that Mrs. Stone was behaving this way on purpose to nudge him aside.
How could he willingly step back after finally falling in love with a woman?
Furthermore, Andrew didn’t seem interested in Elisa, and even if he were to become attracted to her, Remy was confident he could prevail.
As long as Elisa had feelings for him, they could overcome any hardships. That meal felt like a perilous feast. After the meal, Andrew excused himself, claiming he had other matters to attend to.
“Elisa, please see Mr. Reading off,” Mrs. Stone instructed.
Andrew quickly interjected, “Mr. Johnson and I connected well, and we’d like to continue our conversation. Having Mr. Johnson see me off is sufficient, Mrs. Stone.”
“Mr. Johnson is a guest as well,” Mrs. Stone replied, making it clear that Remy was not considered part of the Stone family.
Indeed, Remy was still not a member of her family, and she hoped it would remain that way in the future.
“I’ll accompany Mr. Reading with Elisa, Mrs. Stone,” Remy proposed as a compromise.
Mrs. Stone pressed her lips together in silence. In the end, Remy and Elisa saw Andrew off together.
A few minutes later, Andrew reached his car and turned to them. “I’ll be leaving now, Mr. Johnson, Ms. Stone. Let’s have a meal another day when we can.”
“Okay. Goodbye, Mr. Reading,” they replied, waving as Andrew drove away.
