Married at First Sight Chapter 1614

Chapter 1614
Liberty wished she could maintain her distance from Duncan at all times. However, he constantly used Sonny as an excuse, leaving her feeling powerless.
“You deserve this. It serves you right. You turned down Lily, who is interested in you and eager for a relationship, yet you prefer Liberty. You know perfectly well that Liberty has no feelings for you, yet you shamelessly pursue her regardless of your situation.”
Mrs. Lewis felt no sympathy for her son as he struggled to win over Liberty.
In fact, she hoped Liberty would continue to treat her son the same way, so he would eventually give up.
“Mom, I have no feelings for Ms. Harmon. I simply like Liberty.”
“Explain to me how Liberty is better than Lily,” Mrs. Lewis demanded, visibly irritated.
The child truly made Mrs. Lewis furious.
“Ms. Harmon and Liberty both possess their own qualities; everyone’s positive traits are different.”
Duncan was not against Lily, but he recognized that she was not right for him.
Lily was a dedicated career woman.
He felt that being with Lily would not bring him happiness.
Even though Liberty was said to be doing well in her career and might also become a career woman one day, he found fulfillment in watching and supporting Liberty as she grew. Moreover, Liberty’s personality was distinct from Lily’s.
He simply appreciated Liberty for who she was.
There was no need for a rationale; he didn’t have to pinpoint a specific trait of Liberty that surpassed Lily’s.
“If I had to explain, I would simply be honest. First and foremost, I love Sonny and want to be his dad. I wouldn’t even mind being his stepdad. This is something Ms. Harmon can’t match with Liberty.”
His words caused Mrs. Lewis’s face to flush with anger.
“Duncan,

“You b*stard. Are you trying to irritate me?”
Lily, unmarried and without children, wondered how she could produce a child comparable to Sonny.
Mrs. Lewis was furious with her son.
Duncan, however, was not upset by her reprimand. “You asked me to differentiate, and that was my honest opinion. The main reason is that I’m quite fond of Sonny.”
As he spent more time with Liberty, he hoped to gradually gain acceptance from both her and Sonny.
How wonderful it would be to create a family of three.
“I’ve never seen anyone so eager to be a stepdad!”
Mrs. Lewis continued to criticize her son.
Deciding not to engage further, she quickly ended the call.
She worried that if she continued the conversation, she might strangle him.
“That b*stard really infuriated me. What an ungrateful son. He can’t wait to be a stepdad, even though that child doesn’t belong to him. Doesn’t Sonny have a father? His biological father is still alive.”
After hanging up, Mrs. Lewis vented her frustrations about her son to her husband.
She even thought it might be beneficial to have a heart-to-heart conversation with Liberty.
Duncan wouldn’t heed her advice. Every time she tried to discuss Liberty with him, they ended up in an argument, straining their relationship.
It would be much simpler to deal with Liberty.
Moreover, Liberty seemed uninterested in Duncan; she likely wanted to distance herself from him.
Despite Duncan’s many qualities, Liberty showed no interest!
Her standards were exceptionally high.
Mrs. Lewis was filled with conflicting emotions.
If Liberty fell for Duncan, Mrs. Lewis would find fault with her. Now that Liberty had no feelings for him and rejected his affection, Mrs. Lewis felt frustrated.

Lewis believed that Liberty’s standards were excessively high. Although Duncan was an exceptional and wealthy man, Liberty, a divorced woman, showed no interest in him.
