Married at First Sight Chapter 1607

Chapter 1607

Concerned that his wife might create problems, Derek felt compelled to accompany her to meet Liberty, as he couldn’t dissuade her from going. To further persuade his wife against the meeting, he instructed his chauffeur to drive. The couple sat in the backseat, and throughout the ride, Derek offered his advice.

He said, “If Duncan discovers that you’re meeting Liberty, he will undoubtedly confront you, which could strain your relationship with him. If Serenity finds out, Zachary will too. You know how much he protects and spoils his wife. Liberty is his sister-in-law. Forcing Liberty to leave Wiltspoon will cause significant turmoil and severely damage the relationship between the Lewises and the Yorks.”

Mrs. Lewis turned to glare at her husband and replied, “I’m only going to talk to Liberty. I’m not forcing her to leave Wiltspoon. Why do you keep nagging me? It’s irritating.”

“The Lewises and the Yorks are family friends. What if the Yorks find out that I met Liberty? I’m not going to harm or reprimand her; I just want to have a conversation. The Yorks might accept a daughter-in-law from a humble background with both parents deceased, but I cannot.”

“Not everyone can be like the Yorks. I believe most upper-class women in Wiltspoon prefer their daughters-in-law to be well-matched to their sons. Couples have always been equally matched throughout history. I’m not against Liberty specifically, but a marriage is unlikely to endure if a couple isn’t well-suited. I’m doing this for their own good, to prevent the situation from becoming awkward in the event of a future divorce.”

Derek was left speechless. He recognized that his wife’s points were valid.

“Please have a conversation with Liberty, but avoid speaking to her in a domineering manner that might upset her.” Mrs. Lewis responded indignantly, “With the Stones and the Yorks supporting her, how could I possibly be so audacious as to be domineering and cause her distress? I’m the one who feels aggrieved. Even as your wife, I have to stoop down and plead with Liberty to keep her distance from our son.” Derek found himself unable to reply.

Liberty was unaware that Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were on their way to see her. After having dinner with Sonny, he expressed a desire to go shopping, and she agreed. For convenience, she took him out on an e-bike.

Sonny had wanted to shop at a mall that featured several levels, including a playground for kids on the third floor, which many children enjoyed. Liberty had taken Sonny there twice before, and he had grown quite fond of it.

Upon arriving at the supermarket, Liberty and Sonny encountered Hank and Jessica. Jessica, who was pregnant, had been released on bail to care for her baby after Hank and the lawyer petitioned for it.

“Dad,” Sonny exclaimed, always joyful to see Hank. This was precisely why the father and son shared a close bond, which made it difficult for Serenity and her husband to be harsh with the Browns, as they constantly had to consider Sonny’s feelings.

“Sonny?” Hank was surprised to see his ex-wife and son there. When Sonny happily ran towards him, Hank glanced at Jessica before stepping forward with a smile to lift his son into his arms.

Initially, Jessica wore a smile, but it faded when she witnessed the affectionate interaction between Hank and Sonny. She was pregnant with Hank’s child, which she had longed for. Unfortunately, this child had come later than she had hoped. Had it arrived sooner, she certainly would not have agreed to be…

involved in the wrongful act that destroyed her life and her child’s. She would have performed good deeds for her child’s well-being. Although Jessica was currently out of jail, she would still need to serve her sentence after giving birth. For an extended period, she would be unable to witness her child’s growth. The child would be deprived of maternal love. Furthermore, the fact that she committed a crime would significantly affect the child. Jessica felt a deep sense of regret. However, there was no point in lamenting her past choices. Back then, she did not reject Hank outright; she had envisioned herself as Hank’s wife, hoping for a life of luxury. Little did she realize that this decision would lead to tragedy. She might have been better off marrying an ordinary man, as she would have been able to lead a simple yet happy life. Liberty did not approach Hank and Sonny. Instead, she stood at a distance, quietly observing the two before shifting her gaze to Jessica. Jessica soon walked up to Hank.
