Married at First Sight Chapter 1585

Chapter 1585
Sam chuckled quietly.
Zachary had completely become a devoted husband.
On the other end of the line, Serenity laughed. “I’ll be home soon. Are you there?”
“Yes, I just arrived home. Where are you? Let me come pick you up.”
“No need to trouble yourself. I can drive myself home. Besides, it’s too much hassle for you to come all the way just to get me. I’ll be back in ten minutes, so just wait for me at home, babe.”
“Alright. Drive safely. Remember, you’re driving a car, not flying a jet.”
Serenity laughed. “I wouldn’t even know how to fly a plane.”
Sometimes, Serenity would speed on her way home, but her two bodyguards would quickly discourage her from doing so.
When Zachary learned of this, he scolded her and then mentioned it to Liberty, hoping she would reprimand Serenity for her behavior.
Serenity realized that Zachary often complained to her sister.
Whenever his advice went unheeded, he would turn to Liberty for support.
From that point on, Serenity felt she had to be cautious about Zachary’s feelings in everything she did.
If she wasn’t careful, he would whine to his in-laws daily.
She had never encountered such a man-child before.
When Serenity expressed her frustration about Zachary’s constant reporting to Liberty, her sister explained that Zachary was genuinely worried about her. Rather than confront her directly over a minor issue, he preferred to have Liberty address it on his behalf.
His intention was not to complain out of spite, but out of sincere concern.
What could Serenity say in response to that?
Liberty was firmly on Zachary’s side in this situation.
“Is there anything you’d like for supper? I’ll cook for you.”
Serenity replied, “The…

Food doesn’t taste the same when I’m eating alone. Besides, I avoid late-night meals because I don’t want to gain weight.”

Zachary took great care of his physique. He never ate dinner. Even at social events, he barely touched his food and limited his alcohol intake, sometimes opting for just a few sips. There were occasions when he didn’t drink at all.

Everyone in Wiltspoon knew that it was unwise to suggest drinking when conducting business with Mr. York. After suffering from gastritis, Mrs. York opposed any alcohol consumption, insisting it would harm his stomach and overall health.

“You’re not fat at all. In fact, you’re as light as a feather. You should eat more and gain some weight. When you finally become too heavy to move, I won’t have to worry about you leaving my sight.”

Serenity chuckled, “We’re married now, so you don’t need to worry about me leaving your side. Even if I did, where would I go? I know you’d search for me everywhere. Why waste all that time and effort? I’d rather focus on business and making money.”

“You’re always thinking about money. I bet you’re too caught up in it to notice me,” he replied.

“Come on, don’t be so grumpy. I’ll head home right away.”

“It’s your fault I’m acting this way.”

“That can’t be helped. Being your wife is stressful, you know, with all the responsibilities I carry.”

Zachary remained silent, hoping Serenity could continue to lead a simple life as a bookstore owner. However, now that she was his wife—and soon to be the lady of the house—she had to bear the responsibilities of managing their home.

Hopefully, they…

Zachary might soon welcome a child. Once the child becomes an adult, he looks forward to enjoying early retirement and traveling with his wife, just like his father did decades ago.

His mood improved significantly after their conversation.

Upon entering the house, he didn’t head to his room as usual. Instead, he settled on the couch and turned on the TV, filling the home with ambient noise.

Although Serenity mentioned she would be back in ten minutes, she actually took twenty.

On her way home, she picked up some snacks.

Having attended numerous social events with her husband, Serenity had been indulging in exotic cuisine and missed the flavors of local Wiltspoon delicacies. So, she decided to stop by the night market for a few treats on her way home.
