Chapter 1576
“You’re the first and only person who has moved me.”
Remy spoke earnestly, gazing at Elisa with affection.
His feelings for her were deepening.
“Remy, I’ve never doubted your feelings for me. I just feel that this is all too sudden, and I need some time to process it.”
Remy nodded in understanding. “I know,” he replied.
He was careful not to pressure Elisa.
“I’ll head back now. You can continue with your plans.”
Elisa felt a bit shy under Remy’s gaze.
Oh
She could be shy too.
Typically, Elisa was blunt and straightforward, often unintentionally offending others.
She never imagined she could feel as bashful as a young girl.
Not insisting that she stay, Remy escorted her out of his villa. After ensuring she reached the Stones’ residence, he paused to watch her enter.
Only when Elisa was out of sight did he turn back and walk inside. At that moment, he pulled out his phone to call Zachary.
Indeed, he called Zachary without delay.
Andrew was Zachary’s cousin, and Zachary was well aware of Andrew’s character.
It didn’t take long for Zachary to answer the call.
“Mr. York, I need to ask you for a favor.”
“Mr. Johnson, go ahead. I’ll certainly help if I can.”
Given their companies’ strong collaboration, Zachary was inclined to support Remy.
“Is Andrew your cousin?”
“Andrew? Yes, he’s my cousin—my uncle’s son. What’s going on? Do you have an issue with him?”
Zachary asked with concern, “What’s the conflict? Andrew is very easygoing and rarely holds grudges.”
If someone had a problem with Andrew, Zachary would likely view it as that person’s fault.
“No, I just saw him
“I’ve only encountered him once, and I don’t hold a grudge against him. I’m not afraid of being laughed at by you, Mr. York. My instincts tell me he will be my love rival, so I want to inquire about his character.”
Zachary was left speechless. He struggled to find a response to Remy. Zachary had business dealings with the Johnson family and worked closely with them, which meant he and Remy could be considered friends.
Remy had feelings for Elisa, who was Serenity’s cousin. Zachary believed that he and Remy would eventually become relatives. Setting Andrew aside, Zachary found himself aligned with Remy.
However, with Andrew now involved, Zachary felt caught in the middle. The best course of action seemed to be not to assist either party, thereby avoiding offending either of them.
“I know you would be unhappy if I asked someone else to investigate Mr. Reading, so I decided to come to you instead,” Remy said, ensuring he wouldn’t offend Zachary.
