Chapter 1546
Camryn mentally scolded Callum a hundred times.
Eventually, she stepped out of her car.
Callum moved the moment she emerged.
He approached her and gently took her white cane, guiding her to his car.
“I’ll be the one to drive you every day from now on.”
“Oh, by the way…”
Callum signaled for two bodyguards to come over.
These were bodyguards he had dispatched from the manor. He usually didn’t bring bodyguards when he went out, as he wasn’t as famous as Zachary and didn’t need bodyguards to fend off fangirls. When the bodyguards approached, Callum introduced Camryn, saying, “This is Ms. Newman, your future Mrs. York. You two will protect her from now on. Your role is to safeguard her, not to supervise. If any issues arise that you can’t manage, contact me.”
These instructions were primarily directed at Camryn.
In truth, he arranged for the two bodyguards to follow her to ensure her safety and keep track of her whereabouts whenever he wanted to see her.
After experiencing the pain of missing someone while Camryn avoided him for over half a month, Callum was determined not to go through that again.
“Camryn, their names are James and Adam.”
After speaking, Callum instructed the bodyguards, “Introduce yourselves so Ms. Newman can remember your voices.”
James was the first to greet Camryn, followed by Adam.
Camryn had a good memory and would be able to recall them as long as the bodyguards spoke in her presence.
“Callum, I don’t need them following me,” she protested.
Camryn knew her objection was futile, but she voiced it anyway.
“I think you need them quite a bit,” Callum replied.
He assisted her into the car and even fastened her seatbelt.
Then, he walked around the car to the driver’s seat.
“You can only move around freely in places…
You are familiar with the fact that accidents can easily occur in unfamiliar places. Even if you are intelligent, your current inability to perceive your surroundings is a significant disadvantage. People may exploit this vulnerability and cause you harm.
“Do you still remember what happened that night? If it weren’t for my sister-in-law insisting that I take you home and my decision to follow you, I’m sure you would understand the consequences without me having to explain,” he said.
After a brief silence, Camryn replied, “They were trying to harm me.”
“They are currently in jail awaiting sentencing. But can you guarantee that no one will target you again? Your aunts are hoping for an accident to befall you.”
If Camryn were to be injured, they would no longer have to compete for the inheritance. Camryn remained silent.
“I promise that they will only protect you and not monitor you. They are like my sister-in-law’s bodyguards, solely responsible for her safety.”
Camryn pressed her lips together, remaining quiet. No matter how reassuring his words sounded, they could not change the fact that he was arranging for someone to watch over her.
“Callum, what will it take for you to give up?” she asked.
“While driving, Callum replied, “I will never give up, regardless of what you do. From the moment my nana showed me your picture, you were destined to be my wife.”
“Does the esteemed Mr. Callum feel content allowing the elders to dictate your marriage?” she challenged.
Callum smiled and responded, “Camryn, there’s no need to create tension between my nana and me or to provoke me. I didn’t have anyone I cared for before you. Nana chose you for me, and after spending time together, I believe we get along well. That’s why I accepted Nana’s arrangement.”
Camryn was left speechless. She still could not comprehend why Old Mrs. York would choose her.
blind.
Though there were possibilities for her to regain her sight, that time had not yet arrived. She remained blind.
Even her biological aunts despised her and remarked on her blindness.
She felt unworthy of Callum.
Grandma May, Callum’s biological grandmother, was renowned for her affection towards her grandchildren. How could she possibly accept a blind person as Callum’s wife?
