His eyes sparkled as he declared, “I want to pluck the flower because I think it’s beautiful.”
“What will you do afterward?”
Sonny was unsure how to respond.
Liberty crouched down and asked, “You want to pick the flower just because you find it pretty, right?”
Sonny nodded, feeling compelled to pluck the flower because of its stunning bloom.
“If you think this flower is beautiful, others will too. If everyone picks flowers because they think they are lovely, soon there won’t be any left for anyone to admire.”
“Would you prefer to see an empty flower pot or a bunch of flowers blooming on their stems?”
Sonny realized that his desire to pick the flowers was misguided. Although his eyes still sparkled, his innocent expression revealed an understanding of his error.
“Mom, I won’t pick flowers anymore. I’ll let them bloom so everyone can enjoy them.”
Liberty gently caressed her son’s face and praised him, “You’re a good boy. Whether you’re at Aunt Ser’s or playing outside, remember not to pick flowers, okay?”
Sonny nodded wisely.
“Liberty.”
Serenity, having overheard her sister teaching her nephew about this small issue, approached them.
“Aunt Ser.”
Sonny ran toward Serenity with a smile.
Serenity lifted him up.
“If you love flowers, would you like me to pick one for you?”
Sonny shook his head. “Don’t pick the flowers, Aunt Ser. That way, we can see them blooming every day.”
Serenity smiled at her sister and said, “Sonny understands everything as soon as he’s taught.”
“Children need guidance from a young age. Humans are inherently good at birth. Everyone is like a blank sheet of paper at
It all begins with us. How we, as parents, fill the blank pages of our children’s lives matters greatly. Parents serve as the first teachers for their kids, and our words and actions will leave a lasting impact on them. “Why are you awake so early and not sleeping in? The bookstore isn’t open today, is it?”
