Married at First Sight Chapter 1473

Chapter 1473
Serenity glanced at the message from her sister and paused for a moment before responding, [Liberty, have you ever considered that Zachary might not be the reason Mr. Lewis is treating you well?]
Liberty replied, [What other reasons could there be? He only helped me because of Zachary. When I joined his company, he hired me due to Zachary. I even heard him mention Zachary.]
[I initially planned to wait until you recovered and were discharged from the hospital to discuss this with you, but I feel upset on your behalf regarding the implications Mrs. Lewis made about you.]
Serenity sent the message and called Liberty.
Liberty quickly answered the phone.
“Tell me, Seren. What is it that I don’t know? Why did Mrs. Lewis say that?”
“Liberty, you were unconscious for a night after your injury. It was Duncan who stayed by your side all night outside the ICU. He was the one who saw you in tears and called the doctor. He didn’t get any sleep that night. You were still weak when you woke up, so you didn’t notice what was happening.”
Liberty paused, taking it all in.
“He… He really stayed with me all night? He…”
“Duncan has feelings for you. He realized it when he saw you hurt. Previously, he always claimed he was just fond of Sonny and had no romantic feelings towards you. It was only when you were injured that he recognized his true feelings.”
Liberty was so taken aback that she nearly dropped her phone.
“Seren… Don’t frighten me. H–How could that be? Mrs. Lewis has chosen a wonderful wife for Mr. Lewis. Ms. Harmon is a great girl who’s a perfect match for him. I’ve seen them get along quite well.”
Duncan liked her? Liberty found it hard to believe.
When she met Duncan, she was a 200-pound woman who felt unattractive.
She had crashed into his car and paid for the repairs.
Although

Duncan’s face bore scars, yet he was a CEO with a net worth in the tens of billions. He could easily restore his handsome appearance if he chose to have the scar removed. Though he was slightly older, he remained attractive and wealthy, which likely meant many women desired to marry him.

How could he possibly be interested in her?

Even though she had lost weight, she was still a divorced woman. It’s not that divorced women couldn’t find love again, but she believed that men from affluent families had far better options. There was little reason for someone like him to choose a divorced woman like her, especially since she had a three-year-old son.

“I’m telling you the truth, Liberty. Duncan likes you,” her friend insisted.

Liberty was taken aback.

“Do you have any feelings for him?” Now that the truth was out, Serenity asked her sister how she felt about Duncan.

Without hesitation, Liberty responded, “Seren, I only see Mr. Lewis as a friend. There’s nothing romantic between us; I’ve never thought of him that way. I’ve also said I don’t want to remarry. My focus is on running my breakfast diner successfully. My dream is to own a large hotel.”

“I’ll raise Sonny until he’s old enough to take over the business. Once he’s married, I’ll offer help and care for my grandchildren if they need it. If they don’t, I’ll travel the world without intruding on their lives.”

Having suffered at the hands of her mother-in-law in the past, Liberty was determined never to be a mother-in-law who meddled in her son and daughter-in-law’s affairs. She aspired to be the kind of mother-in-law her daughter-in-law would appreciate, not a difficult one.

“Duncan really likes you, Liberty. Are you sure you’re not going to consider it? He may look a bit rough, but he’s honest and sincere. He’s far better than Hank. You’re still young…”
