“Camryn, I’ve helped you a lot. Now I’m asking for a favor, yet you turned me down. How disloyal of you,” Callum complained, sticking to Camryn like glue as she watered some plants.
As she listened to Callum’s grumbling, Camryn halted, turned to face him, and replied casually, “I appreciate your help, Mr. Callum. I’ve always treated you to meals as a token of gratitude after receiving your assistance. We don’t owe each other anything now. I can’t attend social gatherings with you; that’s something your girlfriend or wife should do.”
Callum looked at her and said, “Your eldest uncle asked me to take responsibility for you. To me, you’re my girlfriend.”
Camryn was taken aback. After a moment of silence, she responded, “Mr. Callum, ever since I sued my uncle, everyone has judged me. How will others perceive you if you take me to the Buchams’ place? I don’t mind facing criticism, but I don’t want you to endure the same.”
“You prioritize righteousness over family loyalty to avenge your father, so why would they judge you? You shouldn’t worry about what your aunts say; they side with your uncle!”
After Camryn sued her biological mother and uncle for her father’s murder twenty years ago, two of Mr. Newman’s sisters confronted her harshly. If Callum hadn’t been there, her aunts would have caused significant damage to Spring Blossoms.
Only Camryn’s youngest aunt stood by her side, though she was very concerned for her well-being. The police had investigated her eldest uncle, and he was likely to be sentenced, but it would be for other offenses committed with her biological mother, not for the murder of her father.
Currently, there is no evidence supporting the claim that her uncle murdered her biological father. Her recording may not be persuasive enough. Mr. Newman hired the top lawyer in Wiltspoon for himself and Camryn’s mother. Camryn’s youngest aunt is concerned that Camryn may lose her standing in Wiltspoon. Although Camryn has done nothing wrong, her two older aunts refuse to let her go unscathed. They are married into affluent families in Wiltspoon and have recently been spreading rumors and speaking ill of her. This situation has negatively impacted Camryn’s flower shop business. Instead of purchasing flowers, many customers have recently come to her shop just to see Camryn, who prioritizes righteousness over family loyalty.
