Married at First Sight Chapter 1439

Chapter 1439

Duncan stared at Lily in silence. After a while, he calmly stated, “This is your choice, Ms. Harmon. You may act as you wish, but I will not reciprocate or accept your feelings simply because of this.”

He understood that Lily’s feelings for him did not extend to love, allowing her to remain alert and rational when confronted with his response. She even accepted her loss to Liberty with composure.

However, he had made his position clear in advance.

Regardless of Lily’s actions, Duncan would never accept her.

He didn’t possess a big heart; it was only large enough for one person.

The woman who first entered his heart would hold that place forever.

Duncan would feel joy if he could marry the person he loved; if not, he would carry her memory and feelings deep within him.

Lily smiled and replied, “Don’t worry, Duncan. I don’t expect you to reciprocate or accept my feelings for this. We’re all adults and must face the consequences of our decisions.

“You can decline my invitation if it’s private, but I hope you’ll consider collaborating on business. Although Harmon Corporation hasn’t established a foundation in Wiltspoon, we remain a major corporation in our home market.”

Duncan met her gaze; her eyes conveyed sincerity.

After a brief silence, he said, “As for business collaborations, I’m open to working with Harmon Corporation if the discussions are smooth and mutually beneficial.”

Lily smiled, relieved. “I’m glad to hear that.”

After finishing her coffee, she told Duncan, “I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now. See you tonight, Duncan.”

They were set to attend Josh and Jasmine’s engagement party at the Buchams’ house that evening.

Josh was the Bucham…

The young master of the family shared a close bond with Julian, who held him in high regard. He served as an administrative executive at York Corporation, and since Mr. York and Mr. Lewis were his close friends, his engagement was understandably extravagant.

Josh was very fond of Jasmine and made every effort to ensure their engagement and upcoming wedding were truly memorable. He wanted Jasmine to cherish the moments they created together.

“See you tonight,” Duncan replied to Lily in a warm, deep voice.

Lily grabbed her car keys and stood up to leave. Although she had arrived with Duncan, they had not traveled in the same vehicle, as he preferred not to share a car with her. This arrangement was convenient for her, as it allowed her the freedom to drive wherever she pleased.

“Serenity,” Chelsea called out just as Serenity exited the ward.

Chelsea had been waiting for a long time, and upon seeing Serenity, she disregarded the fact that Zachary was right beside her. She quickly grabbed her bag and jogged toward Serenity and her husband.

Zachary’s handsome face darkened, and his icy gaze fixed on Chelsea as he regarded her coldly.

Chelsea flinched at his stare but steeled herself to greet him. “Hi, Mr. York.”

Zachary pressed his lips together tightly, offering no response to her greeting, and continued to glare at her, which intensified the pressure Chelsea felt.
