Married at First Sight Chapter 1427

Chapter 1427
“Camryn, why were you with Mr. Callum?” Mr. Newman inquired.
Camryn replied softly, “I went to the hospital to visit Liberty and ran into Mr. Callum, who kindly offered to give me a ride home. He received your call while we were en route.”
Mr. Newman paused before asking with concern, “How is Ms. Hunt doing?”
“Her life is no longer in danger,” Camryn answered. “I went to apologize to her on behalf of Mom.”
“Camryn, it’s possible your mother isn’t the one responsible. Don’t say she did it until she’s been proven guilty,” Mr. Newman said sharply.
“The police wouldn’t have taken Mom unless they had evidence. No one involved that day managed to escape. Even if you just returned, you should have heard about it. I trust the police wouldn’t falsely accuse Mom.”
In truth, Camryn was unaware of why the police arrested her mother.
They apprehended her quickly.
Ultimately, the truth would emerge sooner or later.
Her mother always believed she was powerful due to her connections in the underworld, but she didn’t realize that evil never prevails.
In the end, she was caught.
Camryn felt no sympathy or concern for her mother, nor did she contemplate ways to help her. She believed it was her mother’s own fault.
Mr. Newman was taken aback.
He found himself speechless.
After a lengthy silence, he quickly handed the menu to Callum, allowing him to order.
“I don’t need the menu,” Callum replied.
As a member of the York family, he was well-acquainted with the delicious specialties at his own hotel.
Since it was Mr. Newman’s treat, Callum eagerly ordered several signature dishes from the hotel. Unfortunately, he couldn’t order wine. If he could, he would have selected a few bottles of fine wine to impress Mr.

Newman’s wallet.

After ordering their meals, Callum remarked, “Mr. Newman, feel free to get straight to the point. I prefer direct communication and dislike beating around the bush or engaging in guessing games.”

“You are a very straightforward man, Mr. Callum, and I appreciate that about you,” Mr. Newman replied with a smile. “So, let me be direct. Mr. Callum, you previously saved Camryn and saw her in a vulnerable state. I’ve also requested that you take responsibility for her.”

“Uncle, my body was not exposed!” Camryn quickly corrected her uncle.

Even if Mr. Newman intended to offer her to Callum, he could not use such a rationale. He was embarrassing her in front of Callum.

Both Callum and Mr. Newman turned their attention to her.

With a knowing smile in his eyes, Callum said, “The dress you wore that night was truly beautiful.”

Camryn, who typically maintained a calm demeanor, felt her cheeks flush at his compliment.

Callum then addressed Mr. Newman, saying, “I saved your niece out of kindness, but your expectations are quite daunting. It’s akin to helping an elderly man cross the street, only for people to expect me to care for him for the rest of his life. It makes me hesitant to continue being a good person.”

“If I encounter a similar situation in the future, should I choose to save the girl or not? If I rescue several girls and their parents demand I take responsibility for them, will I end up with multiple wives? Polygamy is not permitted in our country.”
