Married at First Sight Chapter 1424

Chapter 1424
Callum spoke to Camryn. He swiped the answer icon before she could respond and shoved the phone toward her.
“Hurry up and take the phone unless you want us to die together in an accident.”
With no choice, Camryn took the phone from him.
Mr. Newman cheerfully greeted from the other end, “Mr. Callum, are you free? I’d like to treat you to lunch.”
Camryn pressed the phone to her ear. Hearing her stepfather’s question, she replied softly, “Mr. Callum is driving right now, Uncle. He can’t answer the phone.”
“Camryn? You’re with Mr. Callum? Great! Please let him know I’d like to invite him to lunch and ask if he’s available. You can join him too.” Mr. Newman’s tone was warm upon realizing he was speaking to his niece and that she was with Callum.
“Mr. Callum, my uncle wants to invite you to lunch and asked if you’re available.”
“Sure, I am. We’re heading to lunch right now. Please tell Mr. Newman that we’ll wait for him at Wiltspoon Hotel and to come quickly.”
He couldn’t let Camryn pay for their meal today.
After all, he had a lifetime to take advantage of her generosity.
Camryn worked hard for her money, and every time she treated him, she always seemed regretful about spending it. That regret amused Callum. He enjoyed making her pay for their meals and watching her feign generosity while feeling the pinch.
If Camryn could hear his thoughts, she would say, “I don’t want to spend my life with you…”
“Uncle, did you hear what Mr. Callum said?”
Mr. Newman replied, “Okay, I’ll head to Wiltspoon Hotel now.”
Then, he quickly hung up the phone.
Camryn handed the phone back to Callum.
Callum teased her as he drove, “Your uncle…

He came to me seeking help, likely wanting to ask if I would take responsibility for you and marry you. Would you agree to that?”

Camryn remained silent.

“Old Mr. Marshall has already sent that scoundrel who attempted to molest you to jail. Your mom found him, considering the Marshall family’s reputation in Wiltspoon. Even Zachary has to show respect to the Marshalls.

“The main branch of the Marshalls is quite respectable, but they have no connection with your mother. Therefore, she had no choice but to find a very distant relative to give you away as a plaything.”

This was the outcome of Callum’s investigation.

At the time, he had beaten the man severely without knowing his identity, only later discovering that he belonged to the Marshall family.

Old Mr. Marshall even thanked him for helping to expose the scoundrel in their midst.

“Thank you, Mr. Callum,” Camryn said, feeling she could do nothing but express her gratitude.

“Make a note of how many meals you owe me, and you can cook for me every day once your eyes are healed.”

Camryn was taken aback. “Are you… hiring me as a chef?”

“Don’t you need to marry me? I don’t need a chef; I need a wife. Isn’t it normal for wives to cook for their husbands?”

“If you can’t cook, that’s fine. I can handle it. Thanks to my grandmother, all my cousins and I are excellent cooks.”

Despite her usually calm demeanor, Camryn couldn’t help but scowl.

“Mr. York, I never agreed to marry you!”

They weren’t even dating!

Callum smiled and replied, “Your uncle instructed me to marry you and take responsibility for you.”

“He has no authority over my marriage!”

Callum looked at her and asked, “Is your refusal to marry me because you think I’m unattractive?”
