End of the Contract,Start of His Obsession Chapter 98

Scarlet clenched the fabric in her hand. Her entire face was flushed, not with embarrassment, but with fury and humiliation. What do you mean?”

What did William mean? Maybe it was the alcohol speaking, exposing the thoughts he hadn’t meant to voice. However, the way she reacted, like she had just been greatly insulted, pricked at his nerves.
Frustration and anger slammed into William’s pride, pounding like a chaotic drumbeat. He was half–sober and unhinged, curling his lips into a cheeky smile. “What else could I mean?”
He approached Scarlet, one step at a time, each stride laced with aggression. He forced her into a corner with nowhere left to
retreat.
“What are you doing?” Scarlet tried to slip past him, but William yanked her back and pressed her against the wardrobe.
The piece of fabric barely did anything to cover her up. Covering the front meant exposing the back.
William’s fingertips brushed her skin. It was unintentional, but once he touched her, his hand lingered and rubbed lightly. Her skin was delicate and smooth, almost like silken tofu, still slightly damp.

The air was filled with her scent, humid and alive, curling around his nostrils.
William’s breathing deepened.
Fuck! He really didn’t want to divorce her.
His gaze dropped, dark and unreadable. His tone, however, turned frivolous, like a rich playboy who treated love as a game. Scarlet, why don’t you stay with me for a few more years? Whatever Julian has, I have too. Whatever he can do, I can do better. Whatever you want, I can give it to you…”
Before he could finish, a sharp slap cracked across his face, snapping his head to the side.
Scarlet’s palm went numb from the force of hitting him. “William, you’re disgusting!”
Her voice trembled at the end, her entire body shaking with grief and fury. She continued, “All I want is a little respect, to be treated like a human being. Not some toy you can pick up when you’re bored and discard when you’re done!”
William stayed frozen, his head tilted to the side. For a long time, he didn’t move or speak.

That slap had drained every last ounce of strength from Scarlet. Just what kind of person had she used to love? To this day, she still couldn’t understand him. It was just tragic that she had ever loved someone like this.
“You can have any kind of woman you want. If one isn’t enough, you can find two, even three. You can do whatever you like. There are tons of women prettier than me, better at pleasing you, and better at keeping you happy.”
Scarlet added weakly, “Let me go. I’m begging you. Just let me go.”
After a long pause, William let out a low chuckle, almost a laugh, but not quite. Something unreadable flickered in his He straightened his jacket, resuming the polished composure of an elite gentleman, and apologized lightly. “I’m sorry. I drank too much. Forget I said anything.”

eyes.
William stepped back slightly, hands in his pockets, calm and collected. His eyes were clear, as if he had instantly sobered up, or perhaps never drunk at all.
He said, “You should go. I’ll handle Grandma. She’s not sick. She’s faking it. She even secretly ordered takeout earlier.”
Scarlet grabbed a random set of clothes from the wardrobe, changed in the bathroom, then shoved all her belongings from the room into her bag.

William remained standing where he was. At some point, he turned to face her. Leaning against the doorframe, he watched her in silence. His gaze seemed unfocused, as if his mind had drifted somewhere else entirely.
“I’ll see you in court tomorrow,” Scarlet said.
“Okay,” William replied.
She then went downstairs to Emily’s room and knocked on the door. When she pushed the door open, she saw Ellen frantically trying to hide the fried chicken inside the bedside cabinet.
