Chapter 1385
“Mom.”
Sonny rushed in, still wearing his gym uniform.
“Welcome back, Sonny.”
Liberty greeted him with a smile and lifted him into her arms.
“How was your day? Are you tired? Did you cry?”
Sonny shook his head. “I didn’t cry, but I am tired.”
“Oh, you’re tired? Let me kiss that tiredness away. You need to stick with your classes.” Liberty felt concerned that her son might struggle with the workouts. She kissed him and urged him to persevere, reminding him not to let Zachary down after everything he had done for Sonny.
Although Sonny felt exhausted and was tempted to quit, his uncle’s words echoed in his mind. By learning self-defense, he could overcome his fear of bad guys and protect his mother.
He wanted to be strong and shield her from any danger.
Sonny nodded resolutely. “I will stick with the class, Mom.”
Jim entered the diner as well.
“Hello, Ms. Hunt.”
He greeted Liberty politely.
“Thank you, Jim.”
Jim smiled back. “No problem, Ms. Hunt.”
It was his responsibility to drop off and pick up Sonny from his lessons.
Noticing Hank and his wife in the diner, Jim’s instincts were on high alert. He could report back to Mr. Zachary after dropping Sonny off, but he wasn’t in a hurry to leave; he needed to keep an eye on Hank and Jessica.
“Sonny.”
Hank stood up and walked toward the boy.
He smiled and extended his arms. “Come here and give your dad a hug, Sonny.”
Liberty set Sonny down.
Hank then picked Sonny up in his arms.
“Are you here to see me, Dad? I went to class today, and William taught me how to fight. I took it seriously, but it was so tiring.”
Hank found it amusing that his little man was acting so grown-up.
