Chapter 1373
Zachary could not maintain a serious expression.
“Don’t you also want grandchildren?”
Tania replied, “Yes, we do, but we never want to pressure Serenity. So please don’t blame us; we’ve never pushed her to have a child.”
“Seren puts that pressure on herself.” Zachary recognized that Serenity felt this pressure when she mentioned getting a physical exam.
He believed she was stressed about trying to conceive.
“You should tell Seren that a child will come when the time is right if she’s feeling overwhelmed. It will be harder for her to conceive if she’s under so much stress. Encourage her not to overthink it. You haven’t been together long; a medical check-up is only necessary after two to three years of trying without results.”
“That’s exactly my point. I don’t think we need a check-up since we’re both healthy. It’s just that she’s under a lot of stress. I told her I’d take her on a trip after Josh and Jasmine’s engagement party.”
Tania realized that her son was subtly reminding them not to rush Serenity, even if she didn’t become pregnant in the next two years.
The boy was quite clever.
As Serenity’s parents-in-law, they had never pressured her, especially since the young couple hadn’t even had their wedding reception yet. Tania and Liam didn’t feel the need to rush through the steps.
“Alright then. This is a matter between you two, so you should handle it. I promise I won’t rush you to start a family for the next ten years. You can decide when you’re ready.”
With his expression softening, Zachary said to his mother, “Thanks, Mom.”
“Don’t mention it. Now hurry up and apologize to Serenity. Don’t just walk away every time you get angry. You go wild when Serenity does…”
“You’re lucky Serenity is kind and puts up with you,” Tania remarked peevishly.
Zachary replied, “I have to go.”
Liam asked, “Are you going to stay for dinner?”
Tania interjected, “Dinner? He can forget about it and leave hungry. All he needs to do is bend over and cry out in pain when Serenity ignores him. She’ll feel sorry for him.”
Zachary blushed.
“Mom, I never pretended to be sick or unwell,” he insisted.
He had genuinely been ill the last time he experienced a stomachache.
Tania glanced at her husband before responding, “You have a lifetime to spend together. Are you going to promise that you’ll never pretend to be sick or unwell for the rest of your life?”
Zachary was left speechless.
With his mother urging him on, he turned and walked out of the dining room.
As his footsteps faded, Liam asked Tania, “What was with that look just now?”
“It means exactly what you think it means,” she replied.
“It’s been years now.”
“I’ll never forget, no matter how many years pass.”
Liam chuckled. “Come on, let’s go for a stroll.”
Tania agreed.
Outside Wildridge Manor, Zachary called Serenity. The call connected, but she did not answer.
She also ignored his text messages.
Currently, she was at the Soxes’ residence.
