Married at First Sight Chapter 1361

Chapter 1361
“Mr. Lewis?”
As Duncan stared at Liberty without blinking, she skeptically called him back to reality.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Duncan smiled and said, “I see you every day, so I don’t notice the changes. Only now do I realize you’ve lost a lot of weight. You look great; you could give Lily a run for her money.”
Duncan was taken aback by his own words. Why was he comparing Liberty to Lily?
Liberty responded with a smile, “Thank you for the compliment, but I’m just an ordinary girl. Ms. Harmon is beautiful.”
“Liberty, Lily is the daughter of my mom’s best friend. She’s staying with me for a while since she’s here on business. My mom loves her like a daughter. You see, my family is all boys, and my mom doesn’t have a daughter, so she really enjoys having girls around. It’s similar to how Grandma May looks forward to having a great-granddaughter. My mom feels the same way about girls.”
“Lily is a little younger than me. We met when we were younger, but I don’t remember the details. Since she’s a guest, I try to make time for her. I mean, I went to an event with my mom, and she brought Lily along, so I danced with her. That’s all.”
For some reason, Duncan felt compelled to explain to Liberty what he did with Lily the previous night.
He didn’t want Liberty to think he and Lily were involved.
In truth, Liberty had no idea Duncan attended an event with Lily, let alone that they shared a dance.
Serenity hadn’t mentioned it to her sister, but it wasn’t as if she had the opportunity.
Liberty had rushed downstairs as soon as Serenity woke up, right after her sister expressed disapproval of Liberty’s drinking the night before, leaving no time for conversation about the event.

Liberty responded to Duncan, “Mrs. Lewis really appreciates Ms. Harmon. It seems like you and Ms. Harmon get along well. You should spend some quality time together. Ms. Harmon is a lovely and capable young lady. I can tell she’s a career-oriented woman.”

Ms. Harmon appeared to be a good match for Duncan.

Duncan replied honestly, “That’s true. Lily is indeed a career woman, and she’s smart too. We do get along. But wait, Liberty, what are you suggesting? Do you want me to spend more time with her? Do you think we make a good couple?”

Liberty cheerfully responded, “We’re adults, Mr. Lewis. I’ve been in your shoes. I know your mom has been nudging you to settle down. Mrs. Lewis clearly takes a liking to Ms. Harmon, and since Ms. Harmon gets along with you and is now living with you, I think you understand what your mom wants.”

“There’s no reason to feel embarrassed about it. You’re single, and so is Ms. Harmon. If things are going well between you two, you should consider taking your relationship to the next level. Don’t miss out on someone who is good for you.”

Liberty offered her advice as someone experienced. “Mr. Lewis, you’re not getting any younger. At thirty-six years old, what’s wrong with dating? Don’t be too selective. Ms. Harmon is a wonderful woman and a great match for you.”

Duncan looked at Liberty, suspecting his mother had influenced her encouragement to pair him with Lily.

While Duncan held no animosity towards Lily, he felt no romantic chemistry to take the next step.

“Liberty, did my mom say something to you?”

Duncan recalled the first time Liberty met Lily, prompting his question. He had a feeling that his mom had spoken to Liberty.

“No. Mrs. Lewis came by my diner the other day and stopped in for a chat. We talked a bit, as a mom who’s… ”

A thirty-six-year-old son remains single, and his mother is eager to discuss him while searching for potential partners. I understand her concern.

“I’ll probably feel the same way as Mrs. Lewis if Sonny turns thirty-six and still has no romantic prospects.”

“Don’t blame your mom for being persistent, Mr. Lewis. That’s how most parents are. You’ll see when you get married and have kids yourself.”

Duncan was momentarily speechless.

After a pause, he replied, “You’re younger than I am. Don’t speak to me as if you’re older.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t presume to do that. I’m just offering advice from my own experiences. I’ve been through marriage, while you don’t even have a girlfriend yet. You lack the experience of sharing your life with someone else.”
