“I’m still in the hospital right now. I won’t be back for a while,” she replied.
Both Zachary and Serenity expressed their concern simultaneously, asking, “What happened?”
Despite talking for quite some time, Grandma May had not mentioned her hospitalization. She spoke cheerfully, leading the couple to believe everything was fine.
“I went out alone and got startled by Mr. Queen’s car, which caused me to fall. I only bumped my hip a bit. Mr. Queen took me to the hospital and informed my family. The only relative I have in Jensburg is Kevin.”
Zachary was at a loss for words. “Nana, can’t you find a safer way?”

Serenity felt a surge of curiosity. She wished she could clone herself to go and watch the fun.
“Seren, help me keep an eye on Callum and Camryn. They look like they’re having a good time too. You only have one pair of eyes, so it’s impossible to see everything. Don’t feel bad about that.”

Grandma May heard footsteps approaching from outside. She quickly hung up the phone, lay back on the hospital bed, and pretended to be asleep.
