“Seren wanted me to reach out. Why don’t you confess your feelings to Elisa if you like her? Why aren’t you pursuing her? What are you afraid of?”
Zachary bombarded Remy with questions. Before Remy could respond, Zachary continued, “You’ve seen what Seren and I have experienced together. I wonder if you’ve learned anything from us.”
Remy was at a loss for words.
“I’m not sure if Elisa likes me,” he admitted, feeling timid about his crush.
He felt a strong connection with Elisa and cherished their current friendship. However, he worried that if he tried to take their relationship further, she might shut him out of her heart and her home.
The Stones were always watching him closely.
He knew that the last thing the Stones wanted was for Elisa to marry someone far away in Annenburg.
In fact, he managed FC & Co.’s operations in Wiltspoon, which meant he spent most of his time there. If he married Elisa, she would likely continue living in Wiltspoon, and they would only need to return to FC Manor during the holidays.
“I think you’ve made a good impression on Elisa,” Zachary encouraged, urging Remy to express his feelings and pursue her.
Elisa’s marriage wouldn’t concern Zachary if she weren’t Serenity’s cousin.
Now that they were related by marriage, Zachary hoped Elisa would find her true love. Serenity would only feel at ease if Elisa married someone as good as Zachary—if not better—and found happiness.
Remy looked at Zachary for a moment before replying, “Elisa and I are friends now. She doesn’t have romantic feelings for me. She has been in love with you for a long time, and I want her to move on and cool off before I can be…”
“I need to be honest with her about my feelings. Once she has clarity, she’ll be able to determine if she truly loves me.”
After a long pause, Zachary finally spoke, “Since you have a clear idea of your intentions, I will let you proceed, Mr. Johnson.”
