After the call, Zachary quickly reached out to Josh to inform him of Liberty’s suspicions.

Josh replied, “I just received some news as well and was about to tell you when you called.”

Zachary asked in a hushed tone, “What news? Is it related to Sonny’s attempted kidnapping?”

“Yes,” Josh confirmed. “My brother told me that he discovered Mrs. Newman had a gang leader as a godfather over twenty years ago. That leader was arrested and sentenced to death. Some of his men were convicted, but others vanished without a trace.”

“I suspect Mrs. Newman might have taken them in. The men who served under that leader were all ruthless criminals, and it was a sizable gang. If Mrs. Newman did recruit them as bodyguards, they could form a large security company.”

“Considering this happened two decades ago, it will be challenging to track their whereabouts. It will take time to confirm anything. Additionally, those men are likely older now, though they may have brought in new recruits.”

“Since Mrs. Newman was the goddaughter of that gang leader, his men treated her as if she were his real daughter. If she had the audacity to take them in, they would be fiercely loyal to her, willing to follow her to hell and back.”

Zachary said quietly, “We primarily suspected Mr. and Mrs. Newman. After hearing what you’ve shared, I’m now ninety percent convinced that Mrs. Newman orchestrated the incident. Ms. Carrie remains in detention, and Seren has also filed a lawsuit against her. She will face sentencing based on the evidence Seren has provided.”

“Mrs. Newman has always favored Ms. Carrie, who is the apple of both her and her husband’s eye. They spoil her even more than their son. It’s clear she seeks revenge on Seren for her daughter.”

Josh agreed, “I believe that too.”

You mentioned Hank’s mistress, so we can’t dismiss her as a suspect. It’s possible that Mrs. Newman is collaborating with that homewrecker. As Hank’s wife, she has the convenience of tracking the Brown family and staying close to Sonny, which would also allow her to reveal Sonny’s location.

“Zachary, I’ll assign someone to investigate her. What was her name again?”

“Jessica Yates,” he replied.

Zachary thought that if he found evidence, he would set a trap to ensnare the other party, catching everyone involved. That would be the ideal outcome.

“You don’t need to worry when I’m on it,” he assured.

Zachary chuckled. “Yes, I never worry when it’s you. Congratulations on your successful proposal.”

“Thanks! You must come to my engagement party.”

Zachary grinned. “Of course. We’re practically brothers.”

“Jasmine and I need to get married before you. I asked my mom to pick a date before May Day so I can finally hold my beautiful wife as soon as possible.”

It was already mid-March now, and May Day was just a month away.

“By the way, Jasmine and I are going on our honeymoon after the wedding. I’ll need two months off.”

“Isn’t a honeymoon usually just one month? You want to be gone for two?”

Zachary thought two months seemed excessive. He would struggle without Josh at the company.

Josh, with a righteous tone, interjected, “We’ll be newlyweds who can’t get enough of each other!”

I won’t be in the mood to work, and I’m concerned that my performance could lead to losses for the company. Therefore, I would like to request a two-month honeymoon period. If you believe this time off is excessive, feel free to deduct it from my annual leave.”

Zachary replied, albeit reluctantly, “Alright, take your two-month honeymoon. You can retain your annual leave for the holidays. Over the years, you’ve made significant contributions to York Corporation, so it’s only fair that I grant you two months off for your marriage.”

Josh was not only his assistant at the company but also provided support in various personal matters.
