Married at First Sight Chapter 1185

Chapter 1185
After Zachary closed the door, Serenity yawned and returned to bed. She lay down and shut her eyes, intending to rest.
She would wait for Zachary and was eager to learn about the progress of the investigation involving him, Clive, and Josh.
Then there was Duncan.
Duncan must have gone to find Zachary after leaving Brynfield.
After some time, Zachary emerged from the bathroom.
Serenity heard his footsteps and opened her eyes to see him half-naked, his hair still damp with water dripping down.
She sat up quickly and rolled off the bed to grab a clean towel. She then sat him, still with wet hair, in front of the dresser.
Afterward, she helped dry his hair like a caring mother, saying, “Why did you wash your hair so late at night? It’s fine to clean it, but you didn’t even dry it with a towel. Men’s hair is short enough that it will dry quickly with a towel.”
“Still, you’re too lazy to dry it. Look at how wet the floor is now.”
Zachary appreciated his wife’s concern and allowed her to fuss over him.
After a long, tiring day at work, he found joy in her nagging.
He was certainly different from others.
While many would dread being nagged by their wives, he welcomed it.
This was because Serenity wasn’t overly nagging.
Moreover, she was not at an age where nagging was typical.
“I brought you a set of pajamas, but you only put on the pants. Where’s the shirt?”
Zachary smiled, squinting his eyes. “I’m going to sleep soon and will take it off anyway, so I might as well skip it and save the trouble.”
Serenity lightly smacked him.
After drying his hair, she went into the bathroom to retrieve his shirt. She firmly put it on him and said, “You sometimes kick off the

“Don’t forget to use a blanket after you sleep; you might catch a cold if you don’t wear a shirt,” Zachary advised. He was reluctant to turn on the heater because he wanted Serenity to snuggle closer to him for warmth. If the heater was on, she would simply push him away and wouldn’t seek his embrace.

“Me? Kick the blanket? No way,” he said, sounding doubtful. Serenity, uninterested in arguing, decided that the next time she witnessed him doing it, she would record a video to show him the following day. He would believe it if there was proof.

“What’s the status of the analysis being conducted by you, my cousin, and Mr. Bucham? Could it involve the Newmans?” Serenity asked, getting straight to the point.

Zachary stood up and lifted her like a princess, quickly bringing her to the bed and gently setting her down before lying down beside her. “At this point, we can’t confirm that the Newmans are responsible. The people Josh assigned to watch Mr. and Mrs. Newman report that they’ve only been pleading for Ms. Carrie’s release and haven’t engaged in any other activities. There’s also been no news from the investigators looking into their business from outside.”

“I can’t think of anyone else besides them,” Serenity replied, feeling particularly antagonistic toward Mrs. Newman and her daughter.

After a brief silence, Zachary continued, “Seren, they might not be targeting you, but rather me.” He recognized that he had made too many enemies. Wrapping his arms around Serenity, he reassured her, “But you don’t need to worry. Just focus on what you need to do and consider today’s incident an accident. The police, Josh, and Duncan will keep investigating. Duncan has connections from his days in the underworld.”

“If we suspect it’s a plot, they might come after us again after failing this time. So let’s proceed as planned and let them believe we’re treating it casually.”

We have become complacent, which is akin to an accident. When the opportunity arises, they will strike again. This will allow us to gather evidence and identify the mastermind.

“There are still individuals who are openly and covertly protecting you. Duncan is watching over your sister and Sonny. They are unlikely to act quickly after their previous failure. They will probably wait until the zoo incident fades from discussion before orchestrating another attempt.”
