**Chapter 1102**
When Serenity lived in his home, she took care of all the household chores.
“J–Jessica, I–I just came here to have breakfast,” Hank stammered as he picked up the fallen fork and tossed it into the trash can beneath the table.
He stood up and clarified to Jessica that his visit was solely for breakfast.
Jessica glanced at Sonny, who returned her gaze. He resembled Liberty, with bright, clear eyes, and was an adorable child. However, Jessica found it difficult to maintain eye contact with him.
Hank quickly added, “Liberty was very busy earlier, and there was no one to look after Sonny, so I let him sit next to me while I ate. Sonny is still my son, after all.”
He was aware of Jessica’s strong dislike for discussions about Sonny and her resentment toward his visits.
Taking a few deep breaths, Jessica stifled her anger. She resented how her husband and his family frequently visited Sonny and talked about him. Her in-laws often referred to Sonny as their precious grandson, the only one who could carry on the family lineage.
Before the divorce, Hank had not treated his son as well, but now he visited Sonny every few days. Jessica feared that Hank and Liberty might rekindle their relationship, especially since her mother-in-law relentlessly urged Hank to abandon her and pursue Liberty instead.
She also felt confused. It had been several months since she and Hank had been intimate, yet she still wasn’t pregnant. She was concerned there might be something wrong with her health.
If she were to become pregnant, perhaps her husband’s family would treat her better.
“I’m not trying to blame you, Hank, but please let me know the next time you plan to come here for breakfast.”
Breakfast. It has been a while since I’ve had Liberty’s cooking. In the past, you often brought it back to the office for me to enjoy.” Liberty suddenly paused in her task of wiping the table, and a realization hit her.
Previously, Hank frequently woke up late, claiming he had no time for breakfast at home. To ensure he didn’t go hungry, she would pack food for him to take to the office. Unbeknownst to her, he was actually bringing that food for Jessica.
Much of Hank’s success in winning Jessica over could likely be attributed to the breakfasts that Liberty and Serenity prepared.
Hank smiled sheepishly. “I’ll call you next time.” He then reached for Jessica’s hand and asked with affection, “Honey, have you eaten? Shall I order some food for you?”
“I’ve already eaten. You’re finished here, right? Let’s go. Our house is still being renovated, and you should come see it too. I can’t handle everything by myself.”
With that, Jessica withdrew her hand and turned to leave. Hank followed closely behind her.
Jessica walked over to his car and waited. Hank approached and opened the door, asking, “You didn’t drive?”
“You already brought your car. It would be a waste of gas for me to take another one. I took a cab here, so we’ll head back in your car.”
Jessica opened the passenger door, got in, and buckled her seatbelt. As Hank began to drive, she spoke gently, “Hank, if you want to see Sonny, do it openly. As long as you inform me, I won’t prevent you from visiting your son. There’s no need for you to go behind my back.”
“In fact, I can accompany you when you visit him. Although I didn’t give birth to Sonny, he’s very…
I find him cute, and I have a positive impression of him. Since I don’t have a child of my own yet, I’m happy to join you as you bond with Sonny, ensuring he remembers that you are his father. “If Liberty agrees, you can even take Sonny back to our home for a few days so your parents can spend time with their grandson.” Hank was taken aback. Why was Jessica so understanding today?
