Chapter 1059
“Mr. Johnson, do you think Serenity and Jasmine were smiling oddly?”
Now that they had stopped pursuing her, Elisa walked alongside Remy, glancing back at them as she strolled.
She noticed them whispering with their partners. It would be dishonest to say that she didn’t feel a pang of jealousy, particularly towards Serenity.
This jealousy stemmed from the fact that Serenity was with Zachary, the man Elisa had harbored a crush on for years. Zachary had always treated her coldly and avoided making eye contact in the past. Elisa believed this was simply his nature and thought he would never be gentle with anyone.
However, after observing the way Zachary interacted with Serenity, Elisa came to realize that it wasn’t that he couldn’t be gentle; it was just that this side of him was not meant for her.
Of course, Elisa was merely envious. She no longer had feelings for Zachary.
Especially since Zachary had referred to her as his cousin-in-law, Elisa understood that he would never be hers.
There were plenty of other fish in the sea, so Elisa knew she didn’t need to dwell on him.
As long as Zachary treated Serenity well, Elisa was genuinely willing to extend her blessings to the couple.
Remy’s smile was as warm as a spring breeze. “I didn’t notice how strangely they were smiling.”
“I must be overthinking things.”
Elisa smiled as if nothing was amiss. “Zachary invited you here, right?”
“Mm, Mr. York and I are quite close. He was concerned I might feel lonely in Willspoon, so he invited me to join the fun.”
In reality, Remy was closer to Josh, who handled the business dealings between their families.
“I thought you’d return to Annenburg on the weekends. It doesn’t take long to fly there, right? Just a little over two hours?”
“You’re right, but I’m responsible for long-term business in Wiltspoon, so I rarely go home if…”
Nothing important arises, and it’s exhausting to constantly go back and forth.
“On weekends, I either stay home and rest for a day or go hiking, play basketball, or have a barbecue with friends. In the summer, we can also go surfing or fishing in the sea,” he said.
Elisa smiled in response, “You make some great plans for your breaks. Since I’m not working right now, I find it boring to do nothing at home. Shopping all the time is tiring.”
She had long grown weary of spending money without purpose and wanted to experience earning it, so she began learning to invest. Serenity was willing to be her partner, and her family supported her as well.
“Once my house is renovated and I move in, we’ll be neighbors. We can visit each other on weekends, and I can invite you to join me for celebrations,” Remy said, turning to look at Elisa.
“Sure, but it will take some time to fully renovate your place, right? I remember mine took a long time when I was in elementary school,” she replied.
Remy nodded and said, “Renovations can take a while, but where I currently live isn’t far from yours. It takes about 20 minutes to drive there, traffic permitting, though I can’t guarantee there won’t be any.”
“As long as you’re interested, I can invite you to fun activities in the future,” he added.
Elisa smiled and said, “Other than golf, feel free to invite me to anything else.”
