In the courtyard, Elisa approached Serenity while Zachary released Serenity’s hand to allow the cousins to converse, as he entertained Remy. Although Zachary had invited Remy, he hadn’t had the opportunity to give him proper attention.
“Seren, since your wedding date with Zachary has been postponed, I want to discuss investments with you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t dare occupy your time while you’re busy preparing for the wedding,” Elisa said.
Jasmine joined them, chiming in, “Elisa, you can’t be biased. You must include me if you have a profitable project—I want to invest as well and make money to become rich.”
Elisa teased her, “Don’t you want to be the head of intelligence? You could earn a lot by selling information. Plus, you’ll be a wealthy woman if you marry Josh.”
Jasmine replied without a hint of embarrassment, “Who would turn down excess money? I’d be much happier spending my hard-earned cash.” She had accepted her relationship with Josh as a committed couple.
Serenity agreed with her best friend’s viewpoint. Their husbands’ earnings needed to be utilized; if they didn’t spend the money their husbands made, others would spend it for them. However, they should also be capable of generating their own income.
Serenity was more determined to make money than her two best friends. She also aimed to rebuild her career to close the gap between herself and Zachary.
“Let’s discuss this later when we’re seated,” Elisa said, keeping them in suspense. However, her two best friends wasted no time pursuing her.
As Elisa ran for a short distance, she instinctively hid behind Remy upon spotting him. “Mr. Johnson, please help me stop them,” she pleaded.
Remy smiled gently and replied, “I might not be able to stop them.”
Seeing Elisa hide behind Remy, Serenity and Jasmine paused their antics. They exchanged glances and giggled.
They turned to go back to their partners. Elisa wondered, “Why are they smiling so oddly?”
