End of the Contract,Start of His Obsession Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Chapter 21

1/2

The blocked roads weren’t cleared for a long time. Hence, William and Scarlet stayed in the northern suburbs for a full month.

The villa offered very limited entertainment. Being trapped in the space for too long would normally drive anyone crazy. Yet, during that entire month, Scarlet never once felt bored. William treated her so well that it seemed unreal.

Even if Shaun and the others were beaten to death, they would never imagine that William, who had grown up with everything handed to him, had once personally attended a woman in such a manner. William was attentive and thoughtful in every detail.

Scarlet wasn’t good at cooking, so William took over all three meals. He, whose hands had never touched kitchen work, had learned every dish on the fly.

In the mornings, when she couldn’t get out of bed, he brought breakfast to the bedroom and fed her himself. If she got thirsty in the middle of the night, all she had to do was call his name.

When they went out to play in the snow, and her hands turned red from the cold, he would slip them inside his coat to warm

them.

Sometimes, when William exhausted Scarlet too much, he even carried her to the bathroom to bathe. He dried her off afterward and carried her back to bed.

During that time, he took care of her so thoroughly that she might as well have been completely useless. Yet, despite his upright appearance, he was also undeniably a pervert.

Sometimes, when Scarlet was zoning out after waking up, William would pull her into his arms and steal a kiss. He would tease, “Are you trying to seduce me in broad daylight?”

The two would curl up in the home theater to watch movies, but they never once finished a full movie. No matter the genre, his attention always wandered back to her halfway through.

After they returned from the villa in the northern suburbs, it wasn’t long before New Year’s Eve arrived. Scarlet, who was doing her internship at the hospital, happened to be on duty that day and couldn’t go home.

She had been born on the first day of the New Year. When she was little, every year at midnight on New Year’s Eve, her parents would celebrate her birthday.

They used to say that that moment was the liveliest and most joyful of the entire year, gathering all the world’s most sincere wishes and blessings. That was why they hoped that her life would always be bright and full of good fortune.

After they passed away, though, Scarlet no longer had a home. Birthdays and family reunions during the New Year no longer held meaning to her.

That New Year’s Eve, Scarlet was in the ward, hastily celebrating the New Year with fellow staff and patients who also couldn’t go home. At midnight, magnificent fireworks began exploding outside.

Everyone crowded around the windows to watch. Scarlet swept up the trash on the floor. Just as the fireworks were about to end, one of the patients suddenly shouted, “Scarlet, is that your name?”

Scarlet instinctively looked up, just in time to see the very last firework. At that instant, the lights bloomed across the night sky, forming her name. The words were surrounded by dazzling sparks, and beneath them was the outline of a birthday cake.

She froze. At this time, she received a call from William. On the other end of the line, he only said two words, “Come downstairs.”

Amid the laughter of everyone around Scarlet, she went downstairs. In the depths of winter, heavy snow fell in harmony with the New Year’s excitement. The courtyard, which had just been cleared, quickly filled with snow again.

William stood there in the snow, dressed in a black coat. He was smiling as he watched her run toward him. The moment she
