Married at First Sight Chapter 909

Chapter 909
With a smile, Josh said, “I should start working on it so I can receive the bigger gift from you soon.”
“I’ve heard that no gossip escapes your family,” Mr. Sox interjected.
Josh responded, “That’s true. Are you interested in gossip?”
Mr. Sox replied with a serious expression, “Gossip doesn’t interest someone my age,
but feel free to share a bit when we have some downtime. I’m okay with it.”
Mrs. Sox squealed at her husband, saying, “Jasmine certainly takes after him.”
Jasmine’s fondness for gossip came from her father.
Josh happened to be similar in that regard.
It seemed as if he and Jasmine were meant for each other.
God only knew what embarrassing stories Jasmine’s parents would share with Josh when she wasn’t around. After spending all day in front of her wardrobe, Jasmine finally chose a dress.
As she left, Jasmine put on the dress and grabbed her phone.
“Get it together, Jas. Josh is downstairs.”
Drake reminded his sister to maintain her composure. She needed to walk like a lady.
Now that an eligible bachelor was interested in his sister, Jasmine might scare Mr. Bucham away if she didn’t present herself well. Drake didn’t want to spend his remaining years taking care of his single sister.
Although he was younger than Jasmine, Drake was concerned about her finding a partner.
Glancing back, Jasmine remarked, “We won’t have privacy with him around. Why bother pretending?”
Drake was left speechless.
Considering Josh’s background, Drake felt a mini panic. Would Josh uncover all his deepest secrets too?
While Josh was in the intelligence field, his main interest was in getting to know Drake’s sister better.
Josh would only dig deep enough to understand her.

Drake’s character and preferences were considered before addressing his needs; it was a strategy aimed at winning Drake’s favor.

Josh knew it wouldn’t take long to win over the girl if he could get his future brother-in-law and parents-in-law on his side. From what he observed, his future father-in-law seemed to have a favorable impression of him. Had he been more honest about his feelings earlier, Jasmine might have already been his.

Tonight, Josh was set to have dinner at the Lowes’ as Jasmine’s boyfriend. This arrangement was meant to prevent Mrs. Lowe from introducing so-called “good men” to Jasmine—none of whom compared to Josh!

“Can I have a word with you, Mr. Bucham?” Jasmine said, pulling Josh aside before they made their entrance. She discreetly stuffed a wad of cash into his hand and whispered, “Mr. Bucham, this is your payment for pretending to be my boyfriend.”

Josh glanced at the money and then met her eyes with a smile. “Don’t worry, Ms. Sox. This is what I’m here for. I promise I’ll do a great job.” He tucked the cash into his pocket, wrapped his arms around her waist, and grinned slyly. “Let’s go, darling. We don’t want to keep your parents waiting.”

Jasmine was momentarily speechless.

“There’s no point in paying if you don’t get your money’s worth. I’ll make sure to meet your expectations. Come on, let’s practice our kiss. Kissing is normal for couples.”

Josh leaned down to kiss Jasmine, surprising her into pushing him away. Holding out her hands, she said, “Give me back the money. I’m not renting a boyfriend anymore.”

Josh returned the cash, but although he smiled, his tone was assertive. “I’ll take you up on that offer if you mention money again. That’s what you’re paying me for.”

Jasmine was at a loss for words. It was clear that he was not someone to be trifled with.

With Josh joining the Lowes for dinner, Mrs. Lowe soon discovered that he was courting her niece. This revelation left her feeling both happy and embarrassed.

The Buchams were of a higher social standing than the Lowes, making her niece luckier than she felt.

While Josh was expressing his intentions to Jasmine’s family and friends, Zachary was following his nana’s orders to leave Serenity alone.

Zachary tolerated this arrangement for a week.

During that time, he vented his pent-up emotions at work. The employees, bearing the brunt of his frustration, pleaded with Josh to help calm Mr. York. Otherwise, they would continue to suffer under Zachary’s oversight, as the overtime seemed never-ending.

When Zachary focused on work, he was remarkably efficient, and even Josh struggled to keep pace with him.
