Married at First Sight Chapter 843

Chapter 843
After a while, Clive asked, “How did Serenity react when she discovered your identity? Her phone has been off, so I haven’t been able to reach her.”
Zachary replied sarcastically, “You’re not close to your cousin because you haven’t made an effort to bond with her, right? I was able to reach Seren’s phone last night. You say it’s off, but how many times have you actually tried to call her?”
“Why should I share her reaction with you? That’s between us. It doesn’t involve you.”
Although Mrs. Stone was Serenity’s aunt, they hadn’t spent much time together, and their relationship was still new.
To him, only his sister-in-law had the authority to criticize him.
The Stones had no right to do so.
Clive was momentarily speechless.
After a brief silence, Clive continued, “Zachary, I apologize for bothering you today. I may come across as selfish for considering Elisa’s feelings over Serenity’s.”
“You know Serenity better than I do. You should understand her temperament. If she accepted your identity joyfully, that would be wonderful. If she reacted with anger, don’t hold it against her. She needs time to process it.”
“I may not know her well, but I believe a person who has lost her parents yet remains cheerful is resilient and has a positive outlook. I trust she can handle the distrust between you two with composure.”
As Clive defended Serenity, Zachary remained silent.
Noticing Zachary’s silence, Clive ceased speaking. An uncomfortable silence enveloped the office.
After a while, Zachary suddenly asked Clive in a low voice, “When your wife stopped pursuing you back then, what did you do to change her mind and win her love back?”
Clive blinked, wondering if Zachary was seeking advice from him.

“You get back what you give. I treated her the same way she treated me back then. She truly loves me. Before I accepted her love, I pursued her and treated her kindly, which led her to forgive me quickly.”

Zachary fell silent once more. Clive noticed that Zachary had no intention of speaking further, so he stood up and said, “Zachary, I won’t keep you any longer. I’ll take my leave.”

Elisa would return tomorrow, and given how things had ended, everyone had to confront reality. Zachary did not rise to see Clive off. After Clive left, Josh entered the room.

Zachary felt completely at ease around Josh. With a pained expression, he asked, “Should I let go of Seren?”

“I believe a brief separation is worth it for the sake of a lifetime of companionship,” Josh replied.

“She wants a divorce.”

“Considering Serenity’s personality, it’s typical for her to mention divorce in anger. During heated arguments, couples often bring up divorce. She may have said it, but you both haven’t actually divorced. You haven’t even gone to city hall; she merely mentioned it.”

“Look at young couples today. They casually talk about divorce during conflicts. You’re both just having a disagreement. She said some things in anger, and you’re taking them too seriously?”

Zachary scratched his head in frustration and said, “I’m afraid she’ll never come back to me.”
