Zachary would never allow Clive to visit.
Clive was unaware that Zachary had limited Serenity’s independence. Serenity, too, did not consider asking Clive for help. If Clive came looking for Zachary, he would inevitably discover the truth.

Zachary had dismissed his suggestions, so what more could he do?
Shortly after, Zachary left the villa, instructing Brandt to remind Serenity to eat breakfast.
He assigned half of the security team to monitor the villa in case Serenity attempted to escape while he was away.
Forty minutes later, in the CEO’s office at York Corporation,
Zachary and Clive entered almost simultaneously.
Zachary headed straight for his desk and took a seat in the black chair, while Clive, trailing behind, unceremoniously dropped into the chair next to him.
Mr. Chaplin poured each of them a glass of warm water before discreetly exiting the room.
The two CEOs wore grim expressions, and even Josh refrained from getting involved, let alone Mr. Chaplin.
“Zachary, did you hear what I said? Elisa hasn’t fully moved on from you, yet you’ve already been open with Serenity. Have you considered Elisa’s feelings? She’s returning tomorrow, and if she finds out that her best friend is competing with her for your affection, she’ll be furious,”
Clive said, clearly irate.

Consequently, Clive dragged Serenity into the conversation while criticizing Zachary. He felt that his cousin was solely focused on love, neglecting Elisa’s feelings, and even adding insult to injury.

Clive felt the most sympathy for his sister.

Zachary looked at Clive seriously and said, “My marriage to Serenity is our business; it has nothing to do with your sister. It’s my choice to be honest whenever I want. Why should I be concerned about your feelings?

“If I worry about Elisa’s feelings, who will care about mine? I’ve never promised her anything or accepted her love. I don’t owe her anything, so why should I be concerned about her feelings? If she can’t move on from me, does that mean I can never be honest with Serenity?

“Clive, I understand you’re Serenity’s cousin, and you’re not particularly close. It’s natural for you to favor your sister, but don’t hurt your cousin.

“She knows nothing. I didn’t inform her before I agreed to the interview. She has no idea what’s going on. What gives you the right to criticize her?” Clive opened his mouth, unable to refute Zachary’s assertions.
