Serenity sat up and picked up her phone. “I think I’ll watch a movie.”
Zachary took her phone from her and headed to his study. He randomly selected a book and handed it to her. “Why don’t you read something? It’s easy to fall asleep this way.”

Zachary placed her phone on the bedside dresser and turned back to her. He was surprised to see the contents of the book and instinctively snatched it away. A slight blush crept over his handsome face as he stammered, “I-I picked up the wrong one. Just a moment—I’ll get you a magazine,” and he hurried out, still holding the book.
Serenity snapped out of her daze and laughed, “Zachary, so this is what you’re really like.”
Zachary’s ears turned bright red.
That book had been given to him by Josh many years ago. He had never read it, nor had he thrown it away; it had simply collected dust in his study.
Only after developing feelings for Serenity had he secretly read it.
Of course, he had never dared to let Serenity find out.
A few minutes later, he returned to the bedroom empty-handed.
Serenity playfully asked, “Where’s that magazine you were going to get for me?”
Zachary simply stared at her with an intense gaze.
Recognizing that predatory look, Serenity stopped smiling and quickly pulled the blanket higher. She turned away from him and said, “I’m going to sleep now! I’m asleep! Don’t talk to me anymore. If I respond, it’s just sleep talking.”
Zachary was left speechless.

He sat down beside the bed, sensing Serenity’s nervousness. He embraced her from behind and whispered softly in her ear, “Sleep well. I promised not to touch you tonight, and I won’t. I want you to rest.”

Serenity felt relaxed by his assurance. She turned to face him, and unable to resist his smoldering gaze, she playfully pinched his cheek and remarked, “You’re hiding something. If you don’t want to share, I won’t push. When you’re ready to tell me, I’ll be all ears.”

“I’m not,” Zachary firmly denied it.

“I just want you to sleep early and get some good rest. We’ll be leaving early tomorrow, and it’s quite a distance. Once we arrive, you won’t have time to rest, so I’m worried you’ll tire yourself out.”

Serenity was skeptical but didn’t press him further since he wasn’t willing to disclose anything. After talking for a while, she began to feel sleepy and quickly drifted off into slumber.

Once she was asleep, Zachary carefully got up and quietly slipped away.

Though Serenity was in dreamland, her sleep was restless. She dreamed of a wedding with Zachary, where she wore a beautiful white dress and he donned a sharp black suit. She felt stunning, and he appeared impressively handsome. Guests around them commented on how they made a perfect couple, a match made in heaven.

Just as she felt like the happiest woman alive, her newly discovered cousin, Elisa, appeared. Elisa approached them, raised her hand, and slapped Zachary across the face.

Everyone was taken aback.

Zachary was a liar! “Seren, don’t marry him! You need to leave him immediately and never forgive him! He’s a despicable liar who has never been honest with you! He’s been lying all along!” Elisa shouted angrily at Zachary while pointing at him in Serenity’s dream. She urged Serenity to break free from Zachary and avoid marrying or forgiving him, emphasizing that he was deceitful to the core.
