“You’ve got it wrong, Mr. Brown. I’m the one buying gifts for my in-laws, not my sister.”
Serenity casually added, “Even if my sister were buying gifts, she wouldn’t be using your money. No one wants your two cents.”
It was laughable that Hank expected her sister to keep track of every expense for Sonny’s care.

Mrs. Brown had the audacity to urge Liberty to reconcile with Hank. Did she really think her son was the last man on earth?

“Yours? Why are you buying so many gifts for your in-laws?”
Hank was taken aback.
He assumed the sisters would be preparing gifts for the Stones.
It never occurred to him that Serenity was purchasing gifts for her in-laws.

Now that he thought about it, where was Serenity getting the money? Did she ask her sister for funds to buy Christmas gifts?

She curled her lips into a fake smile. “I used to give your parents and sister expensive gifts even before we were married. They praised me, calling me sensible and well-mannered.” In other words, Jessica was neither sensible nor well-mannered for skimping on gifts. A rush of blood surged to Jessica’s head. The overweight woman was mocking her.
She shot back with a sharp retort, “You may be sensible and well-mannered, but Hank still dumped you.”
Liberty smiled, unfazed by the sarcasm. “I wasn’t dumped. I asked for a divorce because he was tainted. Ms. Yates, I owe you a thank you. I wouldn’t have been able to get rid of him if you hadn’t taken over. You got him, and I walked away with a hefty sum of cash. I’m living the life now. Life has never been better!”
Liberty had it easy after leaving Hank. She no longer had to cater to his every need or deal with her in-laws’ constant criticism. She had escaped the nitpicking of her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Considering the Browns’ personalities, Jessica had to admit that Liberty made the right decision by leaving Hank and distancing herself from his family.
“Hank and I are getting married on Valentine’s Day,” Jessica declared, shifting the topic as she began to boast to Liberty about her happy ending with Hank.
“Hank is giving my parents a lump sum of $777,777. You might have torn down the previous house, but that’s fine because I didn’t like the design anyway. I’m planning to renovate our marital home, and Hank promised my name would be on the title deed. I’ll also have access to his bank account, unlike you who had to split everything.”
