Married at First Sight Chapter 703

Chapter 703
After dinner, Zachary cleared the table while Serenity wiped down and tidied the dining area. She then stepped out of the dining room to sit across from her mother-in-law.
Serenity glanced at the time and said, “Mom, why don’t you drive the car into the driveway and stay the night?”
“It’s alright. I’ll head back shortly. Your father-in-law feels uncomfortable if I’m not home with him,” Tania replied.
After their son took over the company, her husband retired and had not left Tania’s side since. He struggled to adjust to Tania being away from home.
Serenity envied her in-laws’ relationship.
They had been together for decades and remained devoted to each other in their golden years.
“Mom, I had no idea Zachary bought this villa. He never mentioned it. I just found out now. This place is larger than the apartment in Brynfield. It feels empty with just the two of us here. Why don’t you move in with Dad?”
Tania was surprised. “You want to live with your in-laws?”
Many young daughters-in-law opposed living with their parents-in-law.
In fact, it wasn’t just daughters-in-law; Tania’s three sons had moved out to live independently once they came of age. They preferred not to share their living space with their parents.
Young people lived in a different world than the older generation.
“I wouldn’t mind.”
Tania smiled and said, “But Zack doesn’t like living with older people. I think we should stay at the old house and give you young ones some space.”
Serenity fell short of Tania’s expectations, and living together would mean her flaws would be scrutinized even more. This wouldn’t help Tania warm up to Serenity.
They might as well maintain the status quo—Serenity believed her.

to spend your life with her. Everyone would be happier if you showed her more support, and remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder.”

As Zachary emerged from the kitchen, Tania stood up and excused herself.

“Zack, come and see me off,” she said.

Serenity initially considered getting up to walk her mother-in-law to the car, but she decided to stay seated, believing that Tania and Zachary needed some time to talk privately.

Zachary quietly accompanied his mother out of the house.

Once they reached the gate, Tania paused and asked, “Zack, are you planning to spend the rest of your life with Serenity?”

“What do you mean, Mom?” Zachary replied.

“You know exactly what I mean. I won’t interfere with your decision, but Serenity could use some lessons in etiquette. As the missus of the York family and your wife, she will attend social events with you, and her behavior reflects on you.”

“If she doesn’t handle herself well, people might laugh at you. Can you discuss this with her? Is she open to improving her etiquette? Does she have any skills beyond crafting? She could certainly benefit from learning a few more.”

Zachary looked at his mother and asked, “Which part of her behavior do you think is lacking, Mom?”

Tania opened her mouth to respond, but no words came out. She felt that Serenity didn’t present herself like someone from a wealthy family. However, Tania struggled to pinpoint what Serenity was actually missing. Serenity was generous, composed, and not an embarrassment to Zachary.

After a moment, Tania said, “I can help her when you’re honest with her about who you are. She has the potential to improve her presentation.”

She then asked her son, “Are you still married in name only? Three months should be sufficient time for you to assess Serenity’s character if you plan to move forward with her.”

To spend a lifetime with her, you need to be genuine since she doesn’t know who you are. The way she carries herself and addresses challenges reveals her true personality.

“Don’t get intimate with her if you’re still unsure about your feelings. This way, it will soften the impact and hurt if you do end up getting a divorce.”

Zachary turned pale and exclaimed, “Mom, Nana said that York boys don’t believe in divorce.”

Tania was left speechless.

Ironically, he was the one who insisted on a divorce six months later. It was his choice, not hers, and Tania only learned about it afterward.

“I will only have Serenity as my wife!”
