Chapter 687
Despite spending every day with Zachary, Serenity found it impossible to kiss her husband, the love of her life.
Zachary struggled to control himself.
Now that the restrictions had been lifted, he couldn’t keep his hands off Serenity and eagerly sought kisses.
After a while, Serenity leaned against his chest, catching her breath.
“Seren.”
She lifted her chin to meet his gaze.
With Zachary wearing a serious expression, Serenity blinked in surprise at his sudden change of mood. “What’s wrong? Why that teacher look?”
“Do you remember the first time you came to my shop to help? The students wouldn’t even step inside because you were there.”
Zachary gently placed his hand on her face, stroking her soft skin with his thumb, a smile gracing his lips. “You rushed me back to the office. I was furious because you didn’t appreciate my help. You even tried to hurry me along.”
In those days, he had always been uptight, grumpy, and sour-faced around her, acting as if everyone owed him something.
“What are you trying to say, Zachary?”
Serenity allowed him to continue brushing his finger across her cheek, relishing the intimate touch.
It felt as though she was a precious gem to him.
“There’s something I’ve kept from you.”
“What is it?”
Zachary hesitated before saying, “You have to promise not to get angry with me, Seren, and you can’t take back your word.”
Serenity met his gaze, and he held it without flinching.
After a moment of eye contact, Serenity nudged him away to create some distance.
“Zachary, are you trying to trick me? You want to—”
You expect me to promise I won’t get angry and that I won’t go back on my word before you share what’s going on? What if you’re about to tell me something that will make me explode? Am I supposed to just suck it up and pretend everything is perfect?
“Let me make it clear: I won’t be taking one for the team. I’ll pinch and bite you when I’m mad!”
Zachary reached out to hold her, but she slapped his hand away. “Don’t touch me. Tell me what you’ve been hiding, and I’ll decide if it’s a good enough reason to not lash out at you.”
Zachary replied, “Um, I don’t just have the property in Brynfield.”
Serenity crossed her arms and asked, “And?”
“I also own a villa on the hilltop in Regent Residences. I’ve been living there until we got married. I only purchased the move-in-ready house in Brynfield at the last minute before we signed the papers.”
Serenity shot him a glare. Regent Residences? What was the price per square foot for those villas?
She had been monitoring property prices as she calculated how to save for a down payment. Living in a villa was beyond her wildest dreams, so she hadn’t paid much attention to luxury areas.
Pulling out her phone, Serenity checked the online price per square foot in Regent Residences. That’s when she realized it was an exclusive neighborhood, and the residents there were wealthy.
