Married at First Sight Chapter 686

**Chapter 686**

Liberty said to Mrs. Stone, “Aunt Audrey, Seren and I are young and capable. We don’t need your assistance. Please don’t worry too much about us; have confidence in our abilities. We will reach the top through our own efforts.”

“I do have one request,” she continued. “Please try not to let everyone know that Seren and I are your nieces. We have encountered all kinds of people and the darker sides of humanity. I worry that others might exploit our connection to you or to the Stone Group.”

After some reflection, Mrs. Stone replied, “I’m glad to hear you feel that way, Liberty. You and Seren are both strong-willed like me. I’ll take a step back since you don’t need my help, but please let me know if things become difficult for you.”

“It doesn’t matter if others are unaware of our relationship, but your relatives must know, or they will continue to hound you girls for money.”

The reputation of the Stone Group could be beneficial at times.

“They already know that Elisa stands behind us,” Liberty replied, recalling Elisa’s confrontation with the Hunts at the shop.

“I won’t actively inform them, but I might use your name to apply pressure when we take them to court to reclaim our parents’ home. It should work to our advantage.”

“Let me know when you plan to initiate the legal proceedings. I can help you hire the best lawyer. Given the inheritance laws, you should win the case.”

Liberty was confident that she and her sister would regain the house through legal means. However, the Hunts were unscrupulous and would not concede easily. Even if the sisters triumphed in court, the Hunts would likely feign ignorance. The sisters would need to pull out all the stops and leverage Aunt Audrey’s name.

After their lengthy conversation, Mrs. Stone kept her promise and watched over her nieces from a distance, refraining from interfering in their lives.

It was only right to allow the girls to navigate their own paths.

It took Zachary a week to recover from his nasty cold. Meanwhile, Callum took over the work while Zachary was in the hospital and returned to Wiltspoon a day before Zachary was scheduled to be discharged. With New Year approaching, most factories had announced their Christmas and New Year closure dates. York Corporation was racing against year-end deadlines, and after consulting with Zachary, it was decided that employees could take leave during the holiday season. Zachary remembered his wife’s words, promising himself a treat once he regained his health.

Upon returning to the apartment provided by the subsidiary company, Zachary began packing. “Why are you packing your things, Zachary?” Serenity asked, confused, as they had just returned from the hospital. “Seren,” he said, turning to face her and gently pressing down on her shoulders as their eyes met. He softly said, “This isn’t our home. I don’t want to spend our first night here.”

Serenity’s beautiful eyes sparkled. “Oh, you remember what I said.” Zachary pulled her close, leaning in to nuzzle against her. He whispered in her ear, “I don’t recall when you swore at me, but I won’t forget that you mentioned going all the way with me. To make that happen, I’ve been mustering the courage to endure the shots over the past week.”

It was an arduous task! He had to take one shot each day. In private, Zachary had complained to Mr. Tank about the large needles, feeling the doctor could have opted for a smaller one. “Did it hurt that much?” Serenity asked, feeling sympathy for Zachary as he endured those shots. It was indeed a tough experience for him, having to face a shot every day.

“It hurt, but I’m feeling better now. How about you give me some sugar to help ease the pain?”
With a smile, Serenity wrapped her arms around the back of Zachary’s neck and pressed her lips against his.
