Josh immediately sat upright.

“Come in,” he said.

The door opened, and a bodyguard entered, holding an invitation.

Josh assumed it was an invitation for Julian to a banquet. To his surprise, the bodyguard approached him directly and handed over the invitation. “Mr. Bucham, this is an invitation from Mr. Stone. The Stones are hosting a banquet tomorrow night and would like you to attend.”

“Me?”

Josh received the invitation with skepticism and asked, “The Stones are holding a banquet, and Clive had someone deliver it personally? Plus, it’s tomorrow night? Why such short notice?”

Most families announce their banquets a few days in advance, with some even giving guests up to ten days’ notice to prepare.

Was this a last-minute decision by the Stone family?

Josh recalled how Audrey had recognized her two nieces and speculated about the banquet’s true purpose.

‘She must want to introduce her two nieces to the elites of Wiltspoon.’

“Hehe, what does Zachary think about this?”

“Mr. Stone also has a message for you.”

“What is it?”

“Ms. Sox is among the invitees.”

Josh’s eyes sparkled.

He grinned and asked the bodyguard, “Has the messenger from the Stone family left?”

“No, he is still outside waiting for your response.”

Without even opening the invitation, Josh instructed the bodyguard, “Tell him I’ll be there on time tomorrow night.”

“Yes, sir.”

The bodyguard respectfully exited.

Josh placed the invitation on his desk. “I suppose I won’t be able to tease Clive the next time I see him.”

“Ms. Sox has no ties to Clive. Those words should come from Zachary instead.”

He put the phone down, leaned back, and said with a faint smile, “Now, do you understand why I don’t want to get married?”

“That’s simply because you haven’t met the right person yet. Look, Zachary was just as stubborn before, but he’s completely changed now. He gets upset if Serenity ignores him, and he argues with her for days before she even has a chance to explain herself.”

“Elisa and Jasmine have a good relationship, so it’s natural for the Stone family to invite Jasmine to the banquet. They extended the invitation to me out of consideration for her. Since they’ve offered me this opportunity, I can’t just let it slip away, right?”

Remembering the invitation, Josh got up and followed Julian.

“I’m going to buy some things for Drake to take back to his sister this evening.”

Josh felt he needed to start with his future brother-in-law. Not only did he need to build a good relationship with Drake, but he also couldn’t neglect Jasmine. Having Drake frequently bring gifts to his sister would improve the Sox family’s opinion of him.
