Married at First Sight Chapter 615

Chapter 615
Turning around, Liberty reentered the office, where her colleague was still happily chatting with others.
Liberty walked straight to the person’s desk, and only then did the colleague notice her return.
The woman felt a wave of embarrassment for being caught speaking poorly behind someone’s back.
“Do you have a crush on Mr. Lewis?”
Liberty’s question instantly flushed the girl’s face with color.
“Of course not,” she quickly denied it.
“Then do you find it entertaining to spread rumors about a secret affair between Mr. Lewis and me? I could hear the bitterness in your tone, which makes it clear you have feelings for him. That’s why you’re always targeting me.”
“Believe me or not, I have no interest in Mr. Lewis. Yes, I’m divorced, but that’s because my husband cheated on me. Should I have waited until the new year to divorce him? Now that I’m single, do I have to endure your rumors about me trying to seduce Mr. Lewis?”
“Mr. Lewis is an honest and principled person. If anything was going on between us, he wouldn’t hide it.”
Liberty shot the woman a cold glare and added, “If I hear you spreading more lies about me, I’ll sue you for slander!”
With that, she turned on her heels and walked away.
The woman’s complexion fluctuated between red and white.
The others watched as Liberty left with an icy demeanor. They had all heard her words and felt as though she was warning them as well.
There were far too many rumors about her circulating in the company.
If Liberty truly decided to pursue slander charges…
Liberty knocked on Duncan’s office door with a stern expression.
“Is your face okay?”

Duncan expressed concern upon noticing that the scratches on Liberty’s face had not fully healed.

“It’ll be fine in a couple of days. Thank you for your concern,” Liberty replied, standing two meters away from his desk.

“Have a seat,” Duncan urged her.

Liberty neither spoke nor moved closer; she simply stood there, looked at Duncan, and calmly asked, “Did you need me for something?”

“Yes, well… I wanted to inquire about your sister’s situation.”

“Seren?” Liberty instinctively responded, “Mr. Lewis, my sister is already married.”

Duncan was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained his composure. “Don’t misunderstand, Liberty. That’s not what I meant. I’m fully aware that your sister is married and that her husband works at York Corporation. Our company has business dealings with York Corporation, and I consider Zachary a friend.”

“The issue is, I spoke with Zachary last night, and towards the end of our call, I mentioned the incident from yesterday evening. Your brother-in-law seemed quite upset that your sister hadn’t informed him about it. I worried that they might argue because I inadvertently revealed what happened.”

“I was so troubled that I couldn’t concentrate on my work, so I decided to call you to check on the situation.”

Liberty paused before responding, “They should be fine. Seren was still asleep when I left for work this morning, so I think she’s okay.”

Duncan struggled to obtain a complete answer and settled for saying, “That’s good. You didn’t seem very happy when you came in earlier. Did you have a disagreement with your colleagues?”

He had a keen eye; Liberty’s expression had been cold upon her arrival.

She fell silent.
