Married at First Sight Chapter 597

Chapter 597
With a dark expression, Duncan demanded, “What’s happening here?”
Chelsea rose from the ground and attempted to lunge at Liberty, but Duncan pushed her away.
It took a few steps for Chelsea to regain her balance.
Looking up, Chelsea noticed a towering man with a scowl standing beside Liberty.
The scar on his face was frightening; if she stared at it long enough, she feared it would haunt her dreams.
Trembling, Chelsea lost her desire to attack Liberty.
Mrs. Brown rushed to her daughter’s side. Both mother and daughter appeared disheveled, as did Liberty.
The few security guards and female employees who tried to intervene in the altercation looked equally frazzled.
It never occurred to them that a conflict involving three women could escalate so dramatically. Separating them seemed impossible.
“Who are you?”
After catching her breath, Chelsea directed her question at Duncan.
“I’m the boss of this company. And who are you? What gives you the right to come into my workplace and assault my employee?”
Duncan turned to assess Liberty’s condition.
Liberty’s hair was disheveled, and she was covered in dirt from the scuffle with Chelsea. There were scratch marks on her hands, neck, and face, some of which were bleeding.
“Call the police,” Duncan instructed the secretary who accompanied him.
“Mr. Lewis, the police are already on their way.”
Realizing Duncan was the company’s boss, Mrs. Brown and Chelsea started to question their position.
Still, Chelsea defiantly stated, “So you’re Liberty’s boss? Good. I have something to say, and you can decide what to do about it. Liberty’s grandfather extorted sixty thousand dollars from my mom and refused to…

“Return the money. Liberty should reimburse us for that.”

“We can overlook the divorce settlement, but why did she have to damage the house my brother bought before the marriage?”

Furrowing his brows, Duncan responded, “You can involve law enforcement if you can’t recover the money Liberty’s grandfather extorted. What does that have to do with Liberty? You should be aware of the situation between Liberty and her relatives; it was all over the internet. I don’t usually follow viral news, but even I knew about it.”

“So, no. Liberty shouldn’t owe you anything for that because it has nothing to do with her.”

Duncan dismissed Chelsea’s claims before directing a question at Liberty. “Did you damage their furniture?”

Liberty replied bitterly, “I covered the renovation costs with my savings before the wedding. I invested over four hundred thousand dollars into that house, but I got nothing in return—not even a refund for the renovation costs. I tore the place down since they contributed nothing.”

Duncan nodded in agreement. “You weren’t wrong to do that.”

Casting a cold glance at the mother and daughter, Duncan stated flatly, “The audacity of you two. You’re the ones at fault, yet you come here to create a scene in front of my office. Do you have no respect for my workplace?”

He then turned to the security guards. “Don’t hesitate to act the next time they come here to cause trouble. Give them a good beating and send them to jail. I intend to sue them for public disturbance and for physically abusing my employee.”

“Liberty, go to the hospital to have your injuries checked so you can sue them for aggravated assault. They need to pay for this!”

The mother and daughter were left speechless.

Mrs. Brown protested, “She hit us too. Look at what she did to my daughter! She crushed her with her weight and…”

“Elephantine weight,” she said.

“They started it. Liberty was merely acting out of self-defense.”

“Who are you to claim that we initiated it? You’re her colleagues and are distorting the truth to protect her!”

Chelsea refused to acknowledge that she had thrown the first punch.

Duncan interjected coolly, “Enough with the arguing. I have several security cameras with 360-degree views installed at the entrance. We can review the footage to see who instigated this when the police arrive.”

The mother and daughter were left speechless.

Mrs. Brown leaned in and whispered to her daughter, “Let’s make a run for it, Chelsea.”

Fearing arrest, Chelsea agreed to her mother’s plan. “Alright.”
