shouted as she burst into the ward. When Old Mr. Hunt noticed her storming into the room with her daughter and son-in-law, he frowned, wondering where his sons and grandsons had gone. There was no one to intervene with this unruly woman.
“My wife is still unwell. Please lower your voice,” he said. Old Mr. Hunt poured a cup of warm water for his wife and set it on the bedside table, calmly asking, “Are you here to visit my wife? Why did you come empty-handed? How old are you? Don’t you understand basic courtesy?”
Olivia marched over, pointing at Old Mr. Hunt while gesturing wildly and cursing. “We’re no longer in-laws. Your granddaughter has divorced Hank. Hurry up and return the money!”
Old Mr. Hunt swatted Olivia’s hand away and replied coldly, “You’re in your fifties now. Didn’t your mother teach you not to point at people while speaking to them? Your lack of family manners suggests your son is no better. It’s no surprise my granddaughter divorced him.”
After reprimanding Olivia, Old Mr. Hunt feigned innocence. “Return the money? What money?”
“Your son didn’t give us a betrothal gift when he married my granddaughter. Now that they’re divorced, even if you want to get back the betrothal gift, you shouldn’t be coming to me,” she replied.
Chelsea added, “My mom gave you sixty thousand to persuade Liberty not to divorce. You accepted the money but failed to fulfill your promise, so shouldn’t you return it? If you don’t give it back, I’ll call the police.”
Old Mr. Hunt countered, “Just because you claim your mother gave me sixty thousand, does that make it true? Is there any record of the transaction? Did anyone witness her giving me the money? That day, your mother came to me and asked me to…”
I tried to convince Liberty not to go through with the divorce. I share the same sentiment, so I asked Serenity to talk to her sister about it. Unfortunately, Serenity was uncooperative and even forced us to leave.
“I did everything I could, but the two sisters wouldn’t listen to me. I’m just their grandfather; what more can I do?”
Old Mr. Hunt was adamant about not returning the money. He would never give back what he had already taken!
