Chapter 564
“That’s very thoughtful of Zachary.”
Serenity accepted the clothes but did not rush to get out of bed. Instead, she held the clothing in one hand and her phone in the other, checking her Facebook out of habit. No one had messaged her the previous night, but a few people had liked her stories.
Nonetheless, she restricted her Facebook posts and stories to a select group of close friends. She preferred to keep her personal life private and did not want those in her profession to have access to it.
Although Serenity frequently posted on Facebook, she favored stories since they disappeared after a set time.
Zachary was the first person to like her post last night.
Serenity was taken aback. Had she inadvertently allowed him access to her Facebook posts and stories when she added him?
Perhaps she forgot to limit Zachary’s permissions when she first connected with him on Facebook.
Upon reflection, Serenity realized she hadn’t shared anything on her page other than her crafts and flowers from the balcony. She felt a wave of relief knowing she hadn’t spoken ill of Zachary online.
Just then, Zachary opened the bedroom door and walked into the room.
“Are you awake?”
He was dressed in a tracksuit, clearly having gone downstairs for a run.
“You still got up early to run on such a cold day.”
“I’m used to it,” he replied.
Closing the door behind him, Zachary approached her and sat on the bed. He asked with concern, “Does your stomach still hurt?”
“No,” Serenity replied.
She gathered her clothes and got out of bed, phone still in hand. “You’re not in a hurry to get changed, right? I call dibs on the washroom.”
“Go ahead. I’ll make you breakfast,” he said.
Pausing, Serenity turned her head back and asked, “Are you sure you’re okay in that department?”
Zachary’s expression darkened.
Noticing his response, Serenity quickly said, “Get your mind out of the gutter. What I meant was, can you handle breakfast?”
Zachary stood up and approached her, smoothing out her messy hair. His voice was low and husky. “You need to try before you can judge if I’m capable in that area.”
Serenity was left speechless.
Since it appeared that Zachary was flirting with her, she felt uncertain about how to respond. She worried that her reply might lead them to cross a line too soon.
“But I hardly ever cook since starting at York Corporation. Work has kept me busy,” she explained.
Although Zachary had joined the company for training and hands-on experience before taking over York Corporation, Nana had insisted that her grandchildren learn to be independent and not be pampered at home. They were expected to take care of themselves.
Occasionally, Nana would express a desire to sample her grandchildren’s cooking, randomly selecting one of them to whip up a few of their specialties.
Nana emphasized that even though they were wealthy, it was important to master various life skills. Acquiring these skills would be beneficial for their future.
With diverse talents, they would be equipped to thrive on their own, even if they left the comforts of their family home.
Thanks to Nana, the grandsons became quite adept in the kitchen.
However, it had been some time since Zachary last cooked, so he felt a bit out of practice.
With bright eyes, Serenity exclaimed in excitement, “I get to taste your cooking!”
Her enthusiasm brought a smile to Zachary’s face. At least she was looking forward to it and showing her support.
His gesture prompted her to respond.
“Get dressed. I need to change my clothes too, and then I’ll make you breakfast.”
“Sure.”
Serenity picked up her clothes and turned on her heel toward the washroom.
After closing the door, she posted on Facebook.
[The weather is chilly today, but a sun lives within me, melting my heart.]
