Married at First Sight Chapter 561

Chapter 561
Sitting up, Serenity took the cup of hot cocoa and savored each sip.
She couldn’t tell if it was Zachary’s care or the warmth of the drink, but after finishing the cocoa and lying down again, she felt much better.
By the time Zachary returned with something to ease her pain, Serenity was scrolling through the news on her phone.
“Why are you on your phone when you’re sick?”
Zachary moved closer, snatched the phone from her hands, and handed her the pain-relief medication. He said, “It’s late. The pharmacy was closed, so I went to the nearby hospital and had a doctor prescribe you some pills. Take them and go back to bed.”
Serenity lifted her chin and gazed at him silently.
“What’s the matter?”
She jumped up and wrapped her arms around his waist, emotionally exclaiming, “You’re so good to me, Zachary.”
As Zachary held her, he sensed that the cup of cocoa had made her feel better. He affectionately replied, “You’re my wife. Who else is going to take care of you if not me?”
Now that Serenity recognized his kindness, Zachary hoped she wouldn’t abandon him once she discovered that he had lied to her. He wished she would remember his dedication, love, and concern for her.
Nana had advised him to pursue her heart.
Sweet talk was not his forte, and she found it cringe-worthy. Zachary needed to focus on the little details of life and gradually win her heart until she was ready to let him in. Only then could they build a future together.
“Zachary.”
“Yes?”
“Do you realize what you’re wearing? It’s a dressing gown.”
Stunned, Zachary pushed her away and glanced down at his attire. Indeed,

He had his dressing gown on. “You also wore loafers outside,” she remarked. Zachary glanced down at his feet and realized why his toes had felt so cold while he was out. He had worn his house loafers. Fortunately, he had gone out late at night, so no one had seen him. Otherwise, he would have made headlines in Wiltspoon’s local paper the next day.

“I was so worried about you that I didn’t even notice what I was wearing when I left,” he said. He guided her to sit back on the bed and took her hands in his. Not feeling the ring, he immediately lifted her hand high. With a frown, he asked, “Where’s the wedding ring I gave you?”

“I didn’t feel comfortable wearing it at work, so I took it off when I arrived,” she explained. Noticing his displeased expression, Serenity quickly added, “I’ll put it on right away when I get to the shop tomorrow. I promise I won’t take it off again.”

“I told you not to remove it once it was on. You need to show Shawn that you’re married; otherwise, he might think our relationship is unstable and believe he has a chance.” Her gentle hand caressed his face softly, followed by her soothing voice.

“I’m sorry, Zachary. Please don’t be angry, okay? Frowning too much will give you wrinkles. You’re only a few years older than me; you need to take care of yourself before I end up leaving you for aging faster than I do.”

“Don’t you dare!” he replied, pulling her close to his chest. He leaned down to kiss her lips passionately as a playful reprimand before releasing her. “I’ll drive you to the shop tomorrow. I won’t leave for work until you put the ring back on. If I ever find you without it, I’ll buy every ring in every jewelry store in town.”

“Wiltspoon and adorn all ten of your fingers to assert my claim over you!”

Serenity whispered, “Do you really have that kind of money?”

She kept her voice quite soft.

Did he think of himself as the dominant CEO found in fiction? It wasn’t as if he was wealthy enough to purchase all the rings in every jewelry store in Wiltspoon.

Noticing her quiet comments, Zachary made a face at
