Chapter 554
Zachary mentioned that he wouldn’t introduce anyone to Serenity’s best friend unless they were truly exceptional, and it seemed he was staying true to his word.
Josh felt a twinge of regret for arriving at the wrong moment.
He observed Jasmine, who was busy directing everyone in moving Liberty’s belongings. Upon noticing him, she approached and greeted him, “Mr. Bucham.”
“Ms. Sox,” he replied.
Josh smiled back, expressing concern, “Are you feeling better from your cold?”
“Yes, thank you for asking.”
Serenity quietly led Zachary away to give Josh and Jasmine some privacy to talk.
Once alone, she complimented her husband. “Zachary, your colleague is quite impressive. Is he also a director at your company? I noticed him when you exited the hotel.”
“Yes, he’s a director and holds a very senior position. Everyone calls him Mr. Bucham.”
He then leaned in closer to Serenity and whispered, “He asked me not to share this, but since we’re husband and wife, I think it’s okay to tell you. Mr. Bucham has earned the trust of our CEO and is his right-hand man. Aside from the CEO, Mr. Bucham holds the highest status in the company.”
Serenity blinked in surprise. “He’s that influential?”
Zachary nodded earnestly. “He truly is remarkable. Just mentioning his name commands respect in the industry.”
Serenity glanced at Josh once more.
Zachary gently turned her face back and quickly kissed her cheek, whispering, “Don’t stare at him. I’m more attractive than he is.”
“He’s so close to Mr. York; I just wanted to look at him again. The people around Mr. York are extraordinary, so it stands to reason that Mr. York himself must be impressive too. It’s no wonder Elisa was so taken with him for such a long time.”
Zachary straightened up and replied,
Warmly, she said, “If Mr. York could persuade someone as exceptional as Mr. Bucham to work for him willingly, then surely, he must be even more impressive than Mr. Bucham.”
“Did Mr. Bucham assist my sister in gathering evidence of Hank’s infidelity?”
Zachary fell silent, realizing he might have inadvertently revealed Josh’s identity as an informant.
Serenity had actually deduced that it was Josh.
“You mentioned it was your friend who helped us. I can’t think of anyone else besides Mr. Bucham. You also said that within your company, Mr. Bucham ranks just below Mr. York. I understand that influential people have strong connections. Who else could assist you with that favor other than Mr. Bucham? Surely, you didn’t trouble the esteemed Mr. York for my sister’s issues?”
He had previously noted how difficult it was to even get a meeting with Mr. York at the company, which was why Serenity assumed he sought Josh’s help.
Unable to resist, Zachary reached out and affectionately rubbed Serenity’s head, a smile in his eyes. Nana truly found me a gem; you’re always full of surprises.
“I did ask Mr. Bucham for help. He agreed because I assisted him in matchmaking with Ms. Sox,” Zachary explained.
Serenity nodded in understanding, wisely refraining from commenting on Zachary’s impressive ability to connect with such a powerful figure.
“How is the demolition progressing? Did you manage to take pictures?” Zachary changed the subject, secretly admitting that he was a bit curious.
Serenity hesitated before responding, “I forgot to take pictures. In any case, everything that could be removed was taken down, and what couldn’t be removed was smashed. The house is essentially back to its original state before the renovation.”
Zachary chuckled, “That’s exactly how it should be!”
Once everyone had loaded everything onto the truck, he took Serenity’s hand and said, “Let’s go to Liberty’s place and help her.”
“First, let’s stop by the store to pick up Sonny,” Zachary said, agreeing with a smile. “Okay.”
