Chapter 534
Serenity’s phone tumbled onto the bed. Although she had waited for Zachary, sleepiness ultimately overcame her. This was a disappointment for Zachary, who was filled with excitement.
He had brought two Eternal diamond rings, purchased from Nana, intending to place one on Serenity’s finger. However, she was lost in deep sleep.
Perched on the edge of the bed, Zachary reached out and playfully pinched her cheek. “You could sleep through an earthquake, little piggy.” After pinching her cheeks, he leaned down to kiss her face, lingering near her lips for a moment. He then picked up her phone and set it on the bedside table.
Even though his wife had fallen asleep waiting for him, at least she was in his bedroom.
That thought provided some comfort to Mr. York. The next morning, Serenity awoke to a stunning bouquet of flowers. Behind the flowers stood Zachary’s handsome face.
She blinked in surprise.
As soon as she was certain she was awake and recognized Zachary before her, she smiled and said, “You’re back.” “Good morning, darling.” Good morning? “Is it morning now? Did you work until morning?” “No, I came home last night. Someone promised to wait for me, but she dozed off.” Serenity smiled shyly as she reached out to take the beautiful bouquet of flowers. “Is there a florist that opens this early?”
“I can get flowers at any time.”
Once Serenity accepted the bouquet, Zachary leaned in, locking his dark eyes onto her beautiful face. With a raspy voice, he asked, “Shouldn’t you give me a morning kiss?” Zachary had instructed the butler at the York residence to cut the most exquisite blossoms from the garden, wrap them, and deliver them by car for this special moment. Enchanted by Zachary’s thoughtfulness and the early morning gift, Serenity eagerly
She gave him a morning kiss.
“Seren.”
“Whatever it is, you can tell me.”
Serenity admired the bouquet. “Where did you get the flowers? They bloom beautifully, even better than the ones on our balcony.”
“I made a phone call to order directly from a flower field and had them specially delivered. No florist is open at this hour.”
Zachary’s dark eyes were fixed on Serenity as he waited for her to be moved enough to reward him with another kiss. “Is today a special day? You even had the bouquet delivered.” While Serenity was touched, it wasn’t the kind of emotion Zachary anticipated. “Why does it have to be a special day to give you flowers?”
Zachary pulled out two jewelry boxes and opened them in front of her. Taking one of the rings, he held up Serenity’s left hand and slipped it onto her ring finger. As he did, he said, “We’ve been married for a while, but you’ve been missing a ring. It’s time I made it up to you. Wear it all the time, especially in front of Shawn. Show off your hand so he can see your wedding ring.”
Although surprised, Serenity didn’t refuse as Zachary placed the wedding ring on her finger. She found his comment amusing. “Uff, someone’s jealous this early in the morning. I can sense it from a mile away.”
“Just wear it all the time,” Zachary urged, extending his hand. “Seren, put the wedding ring on me too.” Setting down the bouquet, Serenity complied and slipped the other ring onto his left hand’s ring finger.
