Married at First Sight Chapter 497

Chapter 497
By this time, the senior executives had entered the meeting room in large numbers.
Seeing the two highest-ranking bosses waiting inside, the executives were taken aback and felt uneasy about the last-minute meeting.
Zachary maintained his poker face throughout.
Some of the executives glanced at Callum, hoping to find some reassurance from him, if only to learn the reason behind the sudden meeting.
Although Callum appeared composed, his focus was directed at Josh.
While Callum was indeed from the same family as Zach, Josh was the one closest to him.
Josh stood up.
“I’m heading to the restroom,” he said, giving Callum a knowing wink.
Understanding the cue, Callum stood up and followed Josh out before all the attendees were accounted for.
Even though Zachary was aware of what was happening, he did not intervene.
He fixed his gaze on the senior executives in the meeting room. Josh had mentioned that he would drive his employees crazy when he was upset, and Zachary was curious to see how that would unfold.
Everyone in the room was at a loss for words.
‘Why are you looking at us like that, Sir?’
‘What did we do wrong? Please, grant us a swift and painless end. Just tell us what we did wrong.’
Callum caught up with Josh outside and asked, “What’s going on with Zach, Josh?”
Josh paused, turned around, and whispered, “Do you have Serenity’s mobile number?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Quick, call her. Tell her to get here immediately. Zachary is extremely jealous right now. This meeting was called at the last minute, and your cousin is going to be furious with anyone who hasn’t completed their tasks.”

He’s in a bad mood and taking it out on us. “The only person who can save us is your cousin’s wife. I assume you don’t want to relive those hellish days again. You’re Mr. York’s cousin, and you can’t go against him if he turns on you, plus you still have to face him at home.”

Callum replied hesitantly, “Zachary and his wife seemed fine over the weekend. They were all lovey-dovey last night too. What changed overnight?”

“Zachary’s love rival confessed his feelings to his wife. Your cousin witnessed the whole thing, and now he’s jealous. You might as well get him some cans of green paint.”

Callum quickly pulled out his phone. “I’ll call Serenity now.”

For both professional and personal reasons, Callum hoped there was no conflict between Zachary and Serenity. “I can’t believe Zachary’s routine was disrupted because of Serenity.”

Once he found Serenity’s number, Callum immediately called her but received an automated message stating she was on another call.

He sighed and told Josh, “Serenity’s line is busy.”

Josh’s eyes lit up. “Never mind then. Let’s head back to the meeting room. It should wrap up in less than five minutes.” He guessed Serenity was on the phone with Zachary.

The last-minute meeting would likely conclude once Serenity calmed him down. Even if the meeting continued, either Josh or Callum would have to oversee it. In either scenario, they would be spared a reprimand from Zachary.

“My hats off to the missus,” he remarked. Zachary was typically quite disciplined, yet he had thrown his routine out the window because of Serenity.

It was fortunate that the senior executives were unaware of the truth; otherwise, they would have been left speechless.
Callum felt the same way. “I plan to learn from Rowan and hold onto Serenity tightly.”
“I want to cling to her as well and not let go,” he added.
Serenity had no clue that there were people eager to hold on to her. She had been stuck in traffic for a while before finally breaking free from the congestion. It took her an additional ten minutes to reach York Corporation.
At this point, rain was pouring down, and the temperature had dropped even further.
