Serenity and Zachary entered their marriage without any feelings for one another initially, and it took considerable effort for them to reach this point.
Serenity drove away.
Shawn considered taking his car to catch up with her, but noticing that no one was watching Serenity’s shop, he abandoned the pursuit and opted to keep an eye on the store instead.
As Serenity turned the corner toward the school, she ran into Elisa.
Their cars almost collided just before both drivers slammed on the brakes.
Elisa rolled down her window to express her frustration when she realized it was Serenity behind the wheel. She shouted, “Where are you going, Serenity?”
Serenity was taken aback to see Elisa. Noticing the attractive middle-aged woman in the passenger seat next to her, she inferred it must be Mrs. Stone. She nodded at the mother and daughter and said, “I have an urgent matter to handle, Elisa.”
“Jas is in the hospital with a cold and fever, and no one is watching the shop. Could you please help me by keeping an eye on it?”
“Serenity, I… Sure, I’ll let you handle your situation.”
Elisa wanted to mention that she had come with her mother to bring Serenity and her mother in for a DNA test. However, sensing Serenity’s anxiety, she ultimately agreed to oversee the shop.
Serenity restarted her engine and merged into the traffic.
The morning rush hour caused significant congestion on the roads.
Serenity felt frantic.
She wished she had wings to soar all the way to York.

Had she known, she would have taken the e-bike to work. The four-wheeled ride shielded her from external elements, but it proved useless in the heavy traffic. Serenity kept calling Zachary while stuck on the unmoving road, yet he refused to answer. He wouldn’t even respond to her text messages. This situation felt all too familiar. This was how he acted when he was angry and misinterpreted things—ignoring calls and texts. Zachary was jealous.
Before he could exit the car upon arriving at the shop, Zachary saw Serenity taking the roses out and throwing them in a bin. She said something to Shawn, who attempted to reach for her, but she swatted his hand away with a duster. Serenity had done nothing wrong. Still, Zachary couldn’t help but feel angry. That’s why he turned on his heel and left when she noticed him. He was acting on instinct.
Currently, he was on his way back to the office. Serenity’s call came through as he drove, but Zachary wasn’t in the mood to answer. He ignored her text messages as well. He simply continued driving, passing his office building without stopping. It wasn’t until he was miles away that the realization hit him. He made a U-turn at the next intersection and headed back to where he had come from.
Several minutes later, Zachary entered the office building with a long face.
Josh seems to be searching for Zachary since he was lingering near Mr. Chaplin’s desk, engaged in conversation. Upon noticing Zachary’s presence, Josh left Mr. Chaplin and approached Zachary.
