Married at First Sight Chapter 493

Chapter 493
“Shawn, I’m married now. My husband and I have obtained a marriage license. Although we married quickly, we are developing genuine feelings for each other. I cannot betray my husband.”
“If you insist on trying to come between us and spreading rumors, you are jeopardizing what little remains of our relationship. I will have no choice but to view you as an enemy.”
As Shawn’s complexion paled, Serenity sighed, questioning when she had ever sent the wrong message.
Truthfully, she would rather die than be kind to Shawn if she had known it would lead him to misunderstand her intentions.
Serenity had been friends with Jasmine for a long time, and that was how she knew Shawn. Being older than him, she had always taken on the role of an older sister.
It had never occurred to her that…
“Shawn.”
Relaxing her tense facial muscles, Serenity said, “You’re a nice and cheerful young man, but we are not meant to be together. Please keep your distance from me, and I will do the same for you. Allow time and space to help you move on. You’ll soon realize that I am not the only option.”
“Letting go doesn’t mean losing someone; rather, it’s about gaining a new life where you can find the love that is truly yours. Shawn, thank you for your affection. I hope you understand that I cannot give you a chance because my heart now belongs to my husband.”
“I won’t leave him unless he abandons our marriage. My heart cannot accept anyone else now that he occupies it.”
“Please don’t do this again. Next time, I will have to push you away and sever ties completely. That would be the end for us.”

“our friendship.”

Shawn was shaken.

He couldn’t believe how cruel Serenity could be.

Her words cut deeper than mere hurt.

“Serenity…”

Serenity extended her hand, signaling for Shawn to leave.

As she did so, she caught sight of a familiar figure standing not far away.

With Serenity watching, Zachary tossed the coat and umbrella he was holding onto the front hood of her car. The umbrella conveniently shielded the coat from the rain.

In dismay, Serenity watched as Zachary turned and walked back to his car. He opened the door, got in, started the engine, and drove off without hesitation.

By the time Serenity snapped out of her trance, he was already far away.

All she could think was, “Oh, sh*t!”

She had been caught by Zachary once again.

Was he misunderstanding her intentions yet again?

Would he avoid coming home, give her the silent treatment, and delete her number once more?

Shawn was entirely focused on Serenity, so he missed Zachary’s arrival and departure. Seeing Serenity standing there in shock, he sensed something was wrong and asked with concern, “What’s the matter, Serenity?”

Serenity pushed him away and rushed into the shop to grab the car keys from the cash register. She then headed back outside and unlocked the car without an umbrella, picking up the coat and umbrella from the hood as she went.

She stuffed the coat and umbrella into the car before climbing in herself.

“Serenity! Serenity!”

Shawn chased after her, tapping on her car window and anxiously asking, “What happened, Serenity?”

All Serenity could think about was catching up to Zachary and explaining herself before he got the wrong impression again.
The last time he saw her, she was serving Shawn some food. At that moment, she had no idea that Shawn had a crush on her; she was simply thanking him for his help. To her, Shawn was like a younger brother.
Zachary did not lose his temper or even let her know that he had seen her.
However, he later argued with her while he was drunk and subsequently began to avoid her from the next day onward. Zachary gave her the cold shoulder for days and even deleted her number.
Since that incident, Serenity realized she needed to address misunderstandings as soon as they arose. She had to clarify things for him at the earliest opportunity before the situation escalated. They were different from other couples.
