Chapter 398
Serenity had a revelation after being gazed at intently and cautiously asked Zachary, “Mr. York, would you like me to wash your face for you?”
“I painted my face black for your benefit.”
This implied that he was holding her accountable.
Serenity was taken aback and thought that this man was becoming increasingly shameless and reckless.
“Fine, I’ll clean it up for you since you did it for me. But why didn’t you just paint your entire face black from the start?” Serenity said as she guided him toward the kitchen.
Zachary followed her but halted after two steps. He frowned and asked, “Why are you taking me to the kitchen?”
“There’s a sink in the kitchen. I can’t go into your room, so how can I wash your face without taking you to the kitchen? Or you could just wait here while I grab a wet towel to clean your face.”
Zachary was at a loss for words. He felt like he had shot himself in the foot, and it hurt. After a brief silence, he replied nonchalantly, “I have a men’s facial cleanser in my bathroom that should remove these stains.” He then turned and headed toward his room. After opening the door, he looked back and commanded, “Come over and help me wash my face!” Serenity scoffed and approached him. “Zachary, you invited me into your room! I’m not sneaking in, so you can’t hold this against me if we argue in the future. I’ve always kept my promises and followed our agreement.” Zachary was left speechless. When she got closer, he couldn’t help but flick her forehead and asked, “Are you hoping for us to argue again?”
“Arguments are unavoidable when living together. Which married couple doesn’t argue?”
She then thought, ‘Especially when it’s someone as petty as you… You’ll delete my WhatsApp whenever we have a disagreement.’
A fight ensued, and he gave her the cold shoulder. Serenity couldn’t promise that they wouldn’t have conflicts in the future. Zachary opened his mouth to respond, but he found no way to refute her statement. Grumpily, he turned and walked into the bathroom. Serenity muttered to herself, “Why does he even want to wash it off? His face is just as dark anyway…”
Zachary suddenly halted and turned to glare at her. “What are you mumbling about?” he asked in a low voice.
“I said you’re more handsome than a movie star. It’s a shame you’re not in showbiz. Why not become a celebrity? I could be your agent! I promise you’ll be so popular that your hands will cramp from counting all the cash!”
Zachary shot her another glare. “Keep up with me!”
She thought he was deaf and couldn’t hear her speaking ill of him behind his back. Hand cramps from counting money? Zachary didn’t need to be a celebrity for that; he had already made enough money that she could count until her hands ached. She could even use cash to wallpaper her room!
Serenity obediently caught up with him and entered the ensuite bathroom in his room. She noticed that his bathroom was larger than hers, featuring a spacious bathtub that could fit two people.
Huh?
Her thoughts wandered to more intimate places, and she quickly shook off those random ideas. When she snapped back to reality, she saw Zachary removing his clothes.
Why was he undressing when he only needed to wash his face? How should she react? Should she cover her face and scream, or simply enjoy the view?
