Married at First Sight Chapter 375

**Chapter 375**

Serenity’s expression was somber. “I wish she were just his step-grandmother. That would have been less painful. Unfortunately, she’s his actual grandmother.”

Her nephew’s grandmother and her own grandmother were quite similar.

After a brief pause, she continued, “That old woman brought Lucas over to infect Sonny. If Sonny falls ill, my sister will be too anxious to work. She’ll definitely take time off to care for him, but she just started her job. If she keeps missing work, it will be hard for her to maintain her position.”

The Brown family was truly doing everything possible to prevent her sister from returning to work. Now that her sister had a job, she should expedite her plans for a divorce. The sooner she divorced, the quicker she could begin anew. “Serenity, why doesn’t your sister’s mother-in-law want her to work?” Elisa inquired.

Serenity returned with the broom. Spotting Sonny, she bent down to lift her nephew with one hand and continued walking as she explained, “Her overbearing sister-in-law, Chelsea, wants to enroll her two children in a city school. The house where my sister lives falls within that school’s catchment area, and Chelsea has her sights set on it.

“She wants my scumbag brother-in-law to transfer ownership of the house to her name so her kids can attend a better high school. However, she lives in a company-provided apartment and has to work, making it difficult for her to drop off and pick up her children. She expects my sister to handle the school runs, cook for them, and help with their homework. My sister refused.

“After finally finding a job, they pulled this stunt to force her into…”

Elisa agreed to help, but she noted that her mother-in-law is completely biased against her. Her brother-in-law shares the same attitude, always favoring his sister.

“In the past, they treated my sister very well, and she believed she had married the right person. Things weren’t bad after the marriage either, but after she gave birth to Sonny, their true colors began to show. Perhaps they felt it was acceptable to act this way now that my sister and her husband had a child. They constantly claim that my sister does nothing at home but care for the child, and that she doesn’t earn money but only knows how to spend it. They even say her education was pointless since she can’t earn an income.”

Elisa remained silent for a moment. “People in my circle say I’m terrible, but compared to your sister’s in-laws, I feel like a saint. At least I don’t harbor bad intentions; I just have a bad temper sometimes.”

The recent encounter had truly opened her eyes.

It was understandable why Sonny was cared for by his aunt, despite having grandparents.

Jasmine interjected, “You’ve only met one of them. If you engage with the Brown family for an extended period, you’ll be introduced to an entirely new world. They’re utterly ridiculous. This family excels at pretending. Liberty and Sonny’s father have known each other for twelve years, dated for seven, and have been married for over three years, yet they managed to maintain the facade all along.”

Elisa felt a chill as she listened.

They could likely win awards for their acting. It was no surprise Liberty had been deceived so thoroughly. If she were in Liberty’s position, Elisa would probably have fallen for it too. “Serenity, that Lucas boy coughed on Sonny. Will Sonny catch anything?”

Elisa gently touched Sonny’s little face and added affectionately, “He’s so cute and smart. Why…

“Don’t his grandparents dote on him?” Sonny, in the future, call me Aunty. I promise no one will dare to bully you again.”

Sonny extended his arms, wanting Elisa to hug him.

Elisa immediately scooped him up. “You’re such an adorable child! My mom would love you if she saw you.”

Her mother had been looking forward to her brother and sister-in-law having a child, but unfortunately, the couple had no plans to start a family just yet. Serenity set the broom aside and remarked, “Sonny’s immune system is strong. He hasn’t been around Lucas for long, so he shouldn’t be infected.” Olivia had intentionally brought Lucas over to expose Sonny to Lucas’s cold. Serenity didn’t conceal the incident from her sister.

When Liberty came over at noon, Serenity recounted the story after lunch.

Liberty was furious.

Wrapping her arms around her son, she exclaimed angrily, “I don’t expect them to care for Sonny, but I can’t believe they would do this to us just so their other grandchildren can attend a good school.”
