Serenity’s expression was somber. “I wish she were just his step-grandmother. That would have been less painful. Unfortunately, she’s his actual grandmother.”
Her nephew’s grandmother and her own grandmother were quite similar.
After a brief pause, she continued, “That old woman brought Lucas over to infect Sonny. If Sonny falls ill, my sister will be too anxious to work. Elisa felt a chill as she listened.
They could likely win awards for their acting. It was no surprise Liberty had been deceived so thoroughly. If she were in Liberty’s position, Elisa would probably have fallen for it too. “Serenity, that Lucas boy coughed on Sonny. Will Sonny catch anything?”

Sonny extended his arms, wanting Elisa to hug him.
Elisa immediately scooped him up. “You’re such an adorable child! My mom would love you if she saw you.”
Her mother had been looking forward to her brother and sister-in-law having a child, but unfortunately, the couple had no plans to start a family just yet.
