Chapter 351
Jasmine regarded Shawn with a serious expression and said, “Shawn, don’t make me lose respect for you!”
Shawn was too wounded to respond.
He felt he couldn’t just let it go.
Yet, he also didn’t want to do anything to hurt Serenity.
Jasmine softened her expression, remembering that Shawn was her cousin. She sighed and said, “Shawn, I’ve already shared everything I could. You need to calm down and try to stay away from my store for a bit. If you don’t see Serenity for a while, your feelings for her will likely fade.”
After finishing her words, she stood up and stated, “This coffee is on me. I’m heading back to the store now. You should return to the office, especially since you’re still a trainee. You need to work harder than anyone else, as you’re not the only successor in your family. If you don’t put in the effort, you risk losing what rightfully belongs to you.”
With that last piece of advice, Jasmine pushed her chair back and turned to leave.
Shawn remained seated, lost in thought.
When he realized he loved Serenity, he hadn’t been brave enough to confess. He let the chance slip away.
Upon Jasmine’s return to the store, Sonny had already woken up.
Serenity was busy making crafts, while Sonny sat beside her, playing with his toys.
Jasmine watched her friend quietly.
Serenity looked lovely, especially when she was absorbed in what she enjoyed doing.
Jasmine couldn’t fault Shawn for falling in love with her.
“Jasmine, why are you staring at me like that? Did you fall for me?”
Jasmine chuckled. “If I were a man, I’d definitely fall for you. Seren, do you realize how charming you are?”
“How charming could I possibly be? I’ve never even had a boyfriend before getting…
“married.”
“That’s because you chose not to fall in love with anyone.”
Jasmine pulled a chair over and sat down in front of the cash register. She asked, “Is your online business doing well now? I’ve noticed that you’ve been making handicrafts every day whenever you have some free time.”
“Zachary and his cousin recommended my online business to their colleagues. Since there are many people at their company, they brought me a lot of orders. Ms. Stone also helped promote my business. Her social circle is filled with wealthy individuals, and they ordered some of my more exquisite products.”
Fortunately, Serenity owned the bookstore, which allowed her to work on handicrafts during the day. Otherwise, managing two jobs would have been challenging.
“Where are the two kitties?”
Jasmine asked casually, noticing Serenity’s dog lying obediently at Sonny’s feet, while the two cats were nowhere in sight.
She added, “Ms. Stone is really supportive. I think the public perception of her is somewhat exaggerated. Perhaps people are just envious of her background and tend to magnify her flaws while criticizing her.”
“That’s certainly possible.”
Serenity also believed that Ms. Stone was very easy to get along with and considered her to be a genuinely righteous person. Ms. Stone was always straightforward about her feelings.
She enjoyed a carefree life thanks to her advantageous background.
Serenity truly valued her friendship with Ms. Stone.
Ms. Stone once mentioned feeling a natural connection with Serenity when they first met, and Serenity now felt the same way. “The two kittens are sleeping on the bookshelf,” Serenity pointed out, indicating where her cats were napping.
Ring, ring, ring… Serenity’s phone began to ring.
She glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Zachary. Pausing her work, she picked up her phone to answer him.
“Mr. York, what’s wrong? Are you busy?”
Zachary was not his usual quiet self; he spoke quickly, and his tone was noticeably more engaged.
“Well, my online business is thriving, so I’m hurrying to fulfill some orders.”
Serenity replied, “Aren’t you busy right now?”
“I’m on a short break, so I decided to call you.”
