Married at First Sight Chapter 344

Chapter 344
Serenity said, “My sister mentioned that she won’t be coming over for lunch because her office is quite far from here. It’s inconvenient for her to make the trip back and forth, especially since she doesn’t have a long lunch break. They have a cafeteria at her office, so she’ll be eating there.”
Zachary hummed in response.
“When Liberty gets back from work this evening, you should ask her how she’s adjusting to the company and if anyone is giving her a hard time. I’m quite friendly with Mr. Lewis, so if she is being bullied, I can ask him to support her.”
Serenity turned to look at him again. “No wonder my sister cares for you so much. She always tells me to treat you well.”
Zachary felt a slight blush creeping up his cheeks.
He had always made an effort to be on his best behavior around his sister-in-law.
Due to time constraints, Serenity prepared a simple lunch.
Fortunately, Zachary ate it with enthusiasm and didn’t seem to mind at all.
Serenity thought that aside from his aversion to bacon, green onions, garlic, and coriander, he was actually quite easy to please.
After the meal, Zachary didn’t leave right away.
Serenity washed the dishes and came out of the kitchen. Noticing that Zachary was still there, she checked the time on her phone. She approached him and asked, “Mr. York, don’t you have to return to work this afternoon? It’s past one o’clock, and I recall you used to rush back to the office around this time.”
Serenity then realized that Jasmine and Sonny were missing, so she asked, “Where are Sonny and Jasmine?”
“Ms. Sox mentioned she was going to the supermarket to pick something up, and Sonny went along with her.” Zachary suspected that Jasmine had stepped out intentionally to give the couple some privacy.
It seemed that Jasmine truly had no interest in matchmaking Shawn and Serenity.
Zachary’s opinion of Jasmine improved.

“Greatly.”

“Oh.”

Serenity returned to the cashier and took a seat.

“Serenity.”

Zachary found himself in a dilemma. When Serenity looked at him, his words caught in his throat, leaving him unable to speak.

Before he could form his next sentence, Serenity, concerned, asked, “Mr. York, are you facing any difficulties? I can see that you’re quite troubled. Please share your concerns with me, and I’ll see if I can help.”

Zachary was at a loss for words.

He didn’t have any issues.

Actually, he was in a predicament.

He had bought a bouquet of flowers for his wife but didn’t know how to present them. “Is it a financial issue?”

Serenity certainly couldn’t assist Zachary with work-related problems. Furthermore, he wouldn’t appear so troubled in front of her due to work.

“How much do you need?”

“I’m not short on money.”

“Then what is it? What’s wrong? You leave work at odd times and keep your thoughts to yourself. Why can’t you just tell me directly? I’ve mentioned that I’m not good at reading minds.”

Zachary fell silent again.

Thinking about the agreement made it hard for him to speak. He felt that giving flowers to Serenity would be like a slap in the face.

Serenity grew anxious at his stoic expression.

“Mr. York, you don’t have to share anything if you don’t want to. I just feel uneasy seeing you look so troubled.” Zachary still remained quiet. Nana was expressive and chatty, but her grandson was a man of few words.

In that moment, Serenity understood why Nana was so eager to matchmake her with Zachary.

Nana must have been worried that Zachary would remain single for life.
