Chapter 343
Zachary was remarkably patient and willing to do anything Sonny asked of him. He also took the time to teach Sonny new ways to play with his toys.
Serenity couldn’t help but think that Zachary would make a responsible father when he eventually had children of his own.
“What’s the matter?”
Noticing her friend gazing in a particular direction, Jasmine leaned closer and discovered Serenity was watching Mr. York. She suddenly chuckled teasingly and nudged Serenity’s shoulder. “Do you think your husband is especially handsome?”
“There’s no need to consider it. He has always been a good-looking guy.”
“Then hurry up and make a move! Look how kind and patient he is with Sonny. Although he appears stoic, he’s actually quite soft-hearted. He must really like kids. You should go for it and start a family; just imagine having a baby as attractive as him. How wonderful would that be?”
Serenity laughed. “You make it sound like I’m only interested in having a baby.” She paused and added quietly, “Even if I were to approach him, I wouldn’t have the courage to undress him, especially when I see his stern and icy expression.”
Men with Zachary’s temperament were not easy to tease.
When Zachary lost an argument, he would kiss her in retaliation.
Jasmine burst into laughter and quickly covered her mouth. She grinned and whispered, “Mr. York just has a naturally cold demeanor. Why not try to get him drunk?”
Serenity briefly considered that scenario before returning to her senses. She said candidly, “I’m not allowed to enter his room. Never mind. I won’t fantasize about it. We’ll take things one day at a time.”
After that, Serenity walked toward the two boys.
“Aunt Swer!”
Sonny, who was enjoying himself, looked up and called out to Serenity.
Serenity reached out to pat her nephew’s head and said,
moment, then replied, “Yes, she’ll have two days off on the weekends.”
Serenity continued chopping tomatoes for the omelet. “I can’t believe how much the salary has increased. I expected it to be around three to five thousand a month.”
Zachary nodded. “It’s true; the cost of living is high, so wages have to reflect that. Plus, many nannies with higher education can earn about ten thousand a month.”
Serenity looked at him, her surprise evident. “That’s quite a leap.”
Zachary observed her as she focused on cooking. “Once Mrs. Lane starts, you won’t have to worry so much.”
“I appreciate that,” Serenity said, stirring the mixture in the pan. “It’s nice to know I’ll have some help.”
Zachary smiled softly. “And I’ll be there to support you as well.”
As they worked side by side in the kitchen, a comfortable silence enveloped them, punctuated only by the sounds of sizzling food and soft chatter about the day ahead.
Just before he said, “We don’t have to work on weekends, and Liberty will take care of Sonny, allowing Mrs. Lane to have her weekends off,” Zachary expressed his desire for some alone time with Serenity and didn’t want Mrs. Lane to be an unwanted presence. “I mentioned that I could take you to the beach for a weekend getaway since you enjoy seafood. Let’s go on vacation so you can eat as much as you want.” Serenity smiled and asked, “Are you serious?” “I never lie,” he replied, though Zachary wouldn’t admit it even if he did. Serenity had faith in Zachary’s honesty. “Is Liberty coming over for lunch?” he then changed the subject.
