was prepared to humble himself in order to win over Mr. York.
“I can’t meet with him directly, but I have other strategies to get his attention. Ms. Stone has been waiting outside York Corporation daily just for the chance to see Mr. York. I believe he finds her presence irritating, and I can leverage that to my advantage…”
“Even if Mr. York continues to ignore me, I can send him an anonymous letter. I’m confident he would take a moment to read it, as he would likely want to eliminate a nuisance. Do you think Mr. York would punish Serenity for advising Ms. Stone on how to pursue him? We wouldn’t need to lift a finger while Mr. York drives Serenity and Liberty out of the city. They would be unable to show their faces in Wiltspoon.”
After some consideration, Mike replied, “You can give it a shot. Serenity is acting tough because Ms. Stone is defending her.” Serenity remained unaware of the Hunt boys’ plan to use Mr. York against her.
She expressed her gratitude to Elisa, saying, “Thank you for standing up for me, Ms. Stone.”
Elisa replied nonchalantly, “It’s nothing. We’re friends. Don’t be a stranger. I’ve got your back. That’s what he gets for threatening my people. He won’t learn unless I teach him a lesson.”
“Serenity, don’t reconcile with them. They’re a terrible bunch. They will never recognize their mistakes. Even I can’t confront them effectively.”
It seemed Ms. Stone had some insight into her own reputation.
Jasmine concurred with Elisa, feeling overwhelmed by recent events.
She had encountered too many examples of the worst kind of individuals. Serenity’s relatives and Hank’s family were truly something else.
“I won’t make peace with them unless they issue a public apology.”
Serenity stood firm. Since they had tarnished her and her sister’s names online, she expected a formal response.
A public apology online was required in exchange for reconciliation. Without it, there would be no agreement. Even if Serenity managed to mend things with her relatives, it wouldn’t be long before another conflict arose. She planned to take her relatives to court to reclaim her parents’ home once her issue with Liberty was resolved.
